Are Creed scents really that good? - Page 2
Question:
well, with Creed you're going to need a few days for your nose to really appreciate them. I've found that to be true with just about all of their scents. And upon revisiting some Creeds I had dismissed earlier, I grew to love them and now one of them I can't live without. 208 a bottle is worth it if the scent brings you joy. And I really do think that their scents are unique, I can't really think of any other scent that smells like a Creed scent except Bond No. 9s Hamptons which was released a few years after its Creed smell-alike - Silver Mountain Water. So I have several Creeds and I'll never give them up. I love Serge Lutens and Frederick Malle and Penhaligons and all of the other niche companies as well - each one has at least ONE scent that I enjoy. So in the end it's what you like. Creed has a reputation (a good one and a bad one) and they can be full of themselves a lot of the time, but if you really like one of their scents then I don't think it matters. And if you don't, thats fine too. Answer: I totally agree with MarkDavid. That's why there are so many fragrances to choose from. I really like the Creed scents. I like the way I feel when I wear them. On the other hand, I find A*Men sickly sweet. But thousand of other Basenoters swear by it. None of us are right - or wrong. We just appreciate different scents. When trying out new ones, I think it's only fair to give each one a chance to impress. Use one at a time, and give the whole day to move through its paces. If you have enough, try them on multiple days. If you still find one repulsive, or weak, or just not your cup of tea, move on. Eventually, you'll settle in to several solid winners, some occasionals, and some that might become gifts! Enjoy! Answer: I think one would have to work really hard to prove that Creeds' fragrances are not well made. Their ingredients are top-notch. Given that, the scents are not among the most adventurous. To my mind they all smell like they could have been made 50 years ago - which is not necessarily a bad thing. And about the price.... Yes, it is expensive to buy a 8.5 oz. bottle of their Private Collection. But actually - in the long run - it is cheaper than buying a 1.7 oz. bottle of the imported Serge Lutens line. I love a number of Creeds: Erolfa - the best aquatic fragrance; Orange Spice - a better made version of Kouros; Green Irish Tweed - a better version of Cool Water; Cypres-Musc with its wonderful top note of bergamot; Angelique Encens - what Shalimar and Emeraude used to be; Bois de Santal - all floral and sandalwood. But as has been stated previously: YOU are the best judge of what is right for you. Find some fragrances you enjoy and many more will turn up in the future. Good luck! I have not seen it listed on any Creed sites until the one that you posted a few days ago. What is in this fragrance besides the sandalwood? Jasmine? I can't quite make out the floral note. It certainly sweetens the mixture and turns it from a totally male scent into a unisex - in my opinion. I dont detect any floral components in it - rather I detect an earthy slightly lemony top, followed by (smooth yet dry?) sandalwood. The notes are: Top: Orange peel, lemons Middle: Sandalwood Base: Vanilla, Tonka Answer: I bought a 4.0oz bottle of Himalaya blind from Creedirect on ebay for only $55 and I thought it was alright! Nice spicy citrus and I love my citrus, (I'm a total summertime guy). It's alright but my friends ALWAYS compliment it! There like hmm you smell good and even at night they can still smell it when I can't! It's like my magic cologne! All my other colognes I hardly get any compliments on.. Answer: look at the scent pyramids on the Creeds and try something with ambergis in it. It will blow your freaking mind with it's longevity and scrumptious smell. Answer: I'm testing Himalaya today and so far it smells like a weaker version of XS I'd even say XS seems a much better, a lot brighter scent to me. Isn't that strange? Answer: I get compliements on Himalaya. Can't spell it on me, but it seems like others around me do. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
