Creed Virgin Island Water - First Review - Page 2

Virgin Island Water is quite a fine spring/summer fragrance if you ask me - opens rather fresh and citrussy clear, then mellows down into a more floral base with a very distinct coconut note. Coconut is also what people around me have detected, and it seems that you have to like that in order to enjoy this scent. Personally, I think it works quite well.
I feel that this is definitely reminiscent of a tropical island - lying down in the silky sand, surrounded by nothing but the ocean and the forest behind the shoreline, drinking cocktails from a coconut. I know that the review zztopp posted here is very similar to this piece - however, I wrote about exactly the same thing a few months ago. I guess that reviewer and I had really similar feelings about this.
Great review. The description conjures up something in Armani Code territory. Is it anything like that in reality?

Answer:
I tried it at the weekend. BrothaG's review is spot on. From other things I had read about it beforehand I was expecting a very soft, round, voluptuous scent. It isn't - the, mainly lime, citrus top notes cut through the richness of the coconut very effectively. It is airier and better than I was expecting.
But ... it is undeniably tropical and very much suited for a particular time and place. That time and place is not sunny Lancashire in early spring. I admire this scent (seriously better than all other 'tropical' scents I've tried) but I just can't imagine wearing it more than once every few years.

Answer:
Thanks everyone! Glad it's getting more positive reviews Indeed, it seems to call for a certain type of weather and location.
RE: the Armani Code, I'm not really familiar with that scent, but I don't think they'll have a lot in common.

Answer:
This sounds like a good choice for spring and summer in south Florida - and right up my alley!

Answer:
This is the kind of fragrance I can appreciate living in Las Vegas for. I have a sample and, with the heat here lasting most of the year, will be looking forward to many wearings once I get a full bottle.

This will be my diet reward when I reach one of my "goals" along the way to my goal weight of 185 lbs. When I reach 200 lbs., this puppy will be mine!
I'm at about 219 right now, down from 232. When I reach 185 lbs., that means 4 new suits!! Every 15 lbs., I get a reward!

Answer:
I've tried it out at Neiman Marcus and also through a sample vial. It is as well made as you would expect and has been described here. The coconut is prominent but the fragrance as a whole couldn't be any mellower or more relaxed - absolutely wonderful. However, I am going to predict that connections to another coconut scent - Marc Jacobs - may start popping up just like constant the Cool Water/ GIT comparisons. While such comparisons are extremely superficial (and in the case of Cool Water and GIT, to my nose, off base), I will definitely have to think twice as to whether I need Virgin Island Water in my arsenal while I have Marc Jacobs. Virgin Island Water definitely is not going to be an all purpose scent here in Michigan, and my use of these two scents would definitely be for similar times/places, if that helps anyone place the family of scent this new Creed belongs to.

Answer:
I am going to try it maņana ...
