MPG Racine - A worthy citrus/vetiver? Longevity?
Question:
I am looking for another citrus/vetiver to compliment Original Vetiver
and Terre d'hermes for this spring and summer. I have sampled this once 2 years ago and found it very nice. I would like to hear from others on how they feel Racine stacks up against others in the citrus/vetiver category.

Answer:
Racine contains more citrus and less vetiver than Guerlain Vetiver, and the overall construction is quite similar as well. Its one of the easier-to-wear vetivers

Answer:
I've got four MPGs, and Racine has by far the worst longevity on me.

Answer:
Racine is one of the few vetiver scents I can wear. Most vetiver scents are too overpowering for me, such as Guerlain Vetiver. The citrus and vetiver notes in Racine are well balanced. One of the few fragrances that surprised me that I like it as much as I do. I haven't given it the stress test for longevity though.
BTW I have a full sample from LS. PM if you're interested in refreshing your memory.

Answer:
I just sampled Racine for the first time yesterday. It was great! Smooth, rich but subtle with a touch of sparkle. Like others have said, vetiver and citrus. Very well blended. Give it a go!

Answer:
As has been stated, Racine is a masterfully blended and balanced vetiver scent. Longevity on me is decent. Hard to go wrong with this one, very versatile and of excellent quality.

Answer:
Oh ya you betcha. Racine is citrus/vetiver par excellance. Zz is right to mention it close to Guerlain's vetiver, but the citrus in Racine is ratcheted way up. Application and an hour after that all you'll be able to notice is the citrus and, sadly, it gave me the impression of standard citrus scents that are out there at all the fragrance counters. That's a disappointment.
I first agreed with everyone who said it had short longevity. Now, after I've worn it a few times, I disagree.
The citrus remains but seems to step aside and let vetiver come forward. Sometimes I think the scent seems more like Eau Sauvage than Guerlain's Vetiver, but crisper, and the blend is knot-tight in Racine, not smooth and relaxing like Eau Sauvage. Racine makes me want to straighten my back, and other vetivers usually don't.
Racine is really nice but it took me four wearings to take pleasure in it. I don't say that to suggest the posters here who dislike it haven't tried it enough, or that I know better because I've tried it four times, I say that because at first I thought it was a niche house trying to do a fragrance counter scent and do it snobby. Bafter a few wearings I really started to like the long vetiver drydown. It's a sunny, dry vetiver too, a huge contrast to Route du Vetiver's wet cold forest vetiver.
Great scent. I'll have to pull it out soon.

Answer:
Highly recommended, I worn two decants and one sample of this very fast, now I'm looking for a bottle. To think of it, maybe just one more decant first .
Amazingly well constructed scent, that stays true to it's character for eight hours or so on my skin, very unusual for citrus scent; it never turns musky, sweet or flat in any way. It is dry and very natural smelling, like all of this fantastic house. Citrus notes are very zesty, and the vetiver brings depth and certain warmth to the scent, without any unpleasant harshness. A Great one.

Answer:
Thanks for all the informative feedback from everyone. I have decide to get half a bottle of Racine from rach2jlc for the spring. I will have it in a couple of days!!
Thanks again
