which one to buy first?
Question:
I am torn between M7 and Vetiver by Guerlain. I would like to hear any suggestions (pros-cons) for each if possible. I will probably buy both at some time, but I can only afford one right now. It's still pretty cold here (Illinois), if that has any bearing on my decision. Thanks for your advice, take care.
Jerry

Answer:
I would say sample them, but M7 in particular is damn near impossible to find at stores anymore.
Personally, I'd go for the Guerlain. Both work in cold weather, but Vetiver is way more versatile, and I like vetiver. And I'm not a fan of M7 at all.

Answer:
Not being a fan of M7, and being a fan of Vetiver, I would say go for Vetiver. The only problem is that there are some people that don't like vetiver, and some people that take a while to "get" vetiver, so test wisely young padiwon. Both scents are fairly polarizing.

Answer:
I got bored with M7 first so if your going to use it frequently, Vetiver is going to please you longer I think.

Answer:
Given your cold climate, I would go with M7 first. Switch to Vetiver as the weather warms.

Answer:
It is true that M7 is a better cold weather and/or evening scent. BUT, overall, I think that the Vetiver is a little more versatile. So, I'd say go with that. But, again, vetiver is a note that some people just don't like... so you definitely should sample (as others have also suggested).

Answer:
I'd say M7 if it's cold and you are planning to use it for evening/ time off wear.
The Guerlain if you are planning to wear your frag at work
Added; M7 widely available in the U.k, at John Lewis department stores for example

Answer:
I find Guerlain's Vetiver to be rather dull, to be honest... of course, being a vetiver fragrance, it's grassy.. slightly sharp, fresh, green.... I find that the vetiver note is represented much better in many other fragrances than it is in the Guerlain rendition (I am in the small minority here)
M7 is essentially a one of a kind fragrance. Sweet, slighly smoky.. rather heavy take on woods.. on me, it smells almost smouldering.
Your choice is highly dependant on what your wardrobe craves at this time.. (as others have pointed out).
M7 would be the easy choice for me, but then again... I'm not you.

Answer:
With Spring on the way I'd go with the Vetiver....As mentioned M7 is becoming very hard to find....The best all around choice is the vetiver...Gary

Answer:
Go with the Vetiver. Way more versatile.
