Obsession vs D&G Pour Homme - Page 2
Question:
I think that D&G is a better smelling and a more masculine fragrance. I always found Obsession on the feminine side. I also find that today's Obsession is not the same as in the past - it seems to be a step or two below the original. Answer: I'll go against the grain here and vote for Obsession. As much as I like D&G, I find it really harsh and synthetic at times especially compared with Obsession's smoothness. However, if it's versatility that you're after then your best bet is D&G. Have you tried Terre d'Hermes? It's along the same lines with its citrus notes but I think it's a tad more interesting. Answer: Originally Posted by radix023 Obsession is a sweet, comfortable, romantic oriental. Due to its popularity, lots of people are familiar with it. Personally, I had to buy Obsession because of all of my personal fond associations with it. If you're buying a fragrance to go clubbing with and don't mind that other guys may be wearing the same thing, then D&G is your thing. If you're going for something to wear outside of work at the semi-formal level and want it to be different from what people are wearing, then Obsession. Not sure if this helps or not... ...which means Obession is much less popular? That did help, thank joo! -------------------------------------- Originally Posted by ChuckW Just a side note - I'm 39 so I'm no spring chicken. I apologize if I stepped on toes! It's okay! Thanks for sharing your opinion, Chuck! -------------------------------------- Originally Posted by teflondog I'll go against the grain here and vote for Obsession. I tried Terre d'Hermes and I think it's an alright fragrance, still less interesteing than D&G though. Answer: Hey, not to make light of this very very very serious topic...;-) but has anyone noticed that D&G is literally indisguishable, color-wise, from sort of dehydrated morning urine? Did D&G actually select this color or is it inherent? Did I get a "bad" bottle perhaps? No matter, it's sublime as I've noted. I agree, too, with the comments re D&G's citric aromatic nature. The sense is that it is cooler, thermally, if that makes any sense. Although it's hard to imagine D&G being...uncloying...in the first 15 minutes....it settles down quite nicely. Opium is a fragrance of class indeed. But to me it smells some...hmmm...decease I would say. Hard to explain. Twisted smell in a way. -------------------------------------- Originally Posted by Duncan Hey, not to make light of this very very very serious topic...;-) but has anyone noticed that D&G is literally indisguishable, color-wise, from sort of dehydrated morning urine? Never payed attention to this fact Anyways, the blue-gold combo looks quite nice! :P Answer: D&G PH without a doubt.. This scent has given me the most compliments.. From women of all ages!! Obsession more suited for cold weather.. Get in the cold air with this and it just blooms!!!!! Answer: D&G can work in cooler or warmer weather while Obession is really suited for cold weather. I personally think both are equally good. There are also better alternatives for both. The Dreamer is a better D&G. Envy/Opium/many other orientals are better versions of Obsession. I'd go with D&G though, because everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) seems to like D&G so you can't go wrong with that. Answer: Obsession by a country mile Answer: Both are very common. Obsession I tested in a shop. Of dozens I tried it remained one of the best. The cinnamon did it. D&G pour Homme I tested as well and I fell in love. Bought a bottle and was happy ever after. The tabacco did it. But if you had the chance to test some Domenico Caraceni pour Homme, I bet you would forget about either Obsession as well as D&G pour Homme pretty soon .... Answer: Personally, I would have to go with D&G. I have worn both, but D&G is one of the few fragrances that I have bought repeatedly. Obsession is nice, don't get me wrong, but if I had to go with either, especially in warm weather, I would go with D&G. Obsession seems like it would be a bit too much in warm weather.
