Another X similar to Y thread
Question:
Although I received no replies to my last one, here is another one:
I am wearing Fumerie Turque today and it instantly reminded me of Mazzolari Lui.
I believe FT would be extremely similar to Mazzolari Lui without the tobacco note (or vice versa). Am I the only one that smells a similarity between the two?

Answer:
Sorry, I haven't smelled the Mazzolari Lui so cannot comment to their differences or similarities.

I do, however, find Fumerie Turque similar to Royal Copenhagen for men (if the tobacco and leather were removed).

Answer:
Hmmm...I sense similarities, but I don't think they'd be the same with the addition or subtraction of a note or two. They're both big, rich, deep scents with animalic qualities, but I get more florals in FT than in Lui, in addition to the smoky tobacco, making FT more complex and less traditionally masculine to my nose.
Laura Tonatto's Re and Reminiscence Patchouli are both similar to Lui. Lots of patchouli and other woods, plenty of spice, and an "animalic" base - amber in Lui and Reminiscence, and in Re, I believe it's opoponax providing the same sort of warm, ambery richness.

Answer:
This thread is old, but I had to bring it out of hiding because I found Fumerie Turque so similar to Chanel No. 5 extrait. The notes of honey, tobacco and currants make it different at first, but it's definitely No. 5 on the rest of the drydown, rose, jasmine, aldehydes and all.
Fumerie Turque for men? Why not? It's abstract enough.
Mazzolari Lui...gotta try that one!

Answer:
ABSOLUTELY right in every of your choice !! I do love patchuli too. You're definitely such a "noise" !!! Didn't you forget about "Givenchy Gentleman" ? I can't remember... Patchculi, santal & honey and lots of other things too, the kind of "skin perfume" you have to smell after 30 minutes.... (the top notes are not commercial at all ! ). But after...

Answer:
Mazzolari Lui a sweet floral patchouli, reminded me a wee bit of borneo with flowers and less chocolate. prefer borneo. going on it ML a little musky too. didn't remind me of FT which I haven't sampled in a long while.

Answer:
But where can one buy Mazzolari in Italy? The website for Mazzolari doesn't seem to be fully operational.
I'm heading to Tuscany and would like to visit a retailer of the Mazz. line.

Answer:
Mazzolari Alessandro is all that's in the directory and if I hadn't sampled them all from luckyscent I'd be hard pressed to know what we were talking about.
Is Mazzolari Lui an approximation of Fumerie Turque? I didn't think it was when I sampled it. I have a little left, I'll try some on each hand next time I get a hand free. Make that two hands free.
