Obsession vs D&G Pour Homme
Question:
I was planning to buy either Laguna or D&G PH, but since I wasn't impressed by Laguna at all, now I'm choosing between Obsession and D&G Pour Homme. 1). Which one do you like better? 2). How do you like Obsession in warm weather? Thanks in advance! Answer: Age 50+ go for Obsession. 50 and under go for D&G. D&G is a more modern scent. The only people I know who wear Obsession are over 50...not that the 50+ crowd can't wear D&G. But should under 50 wear Obsession...I dunno. Answer: I'll be happy to give you my input as I know both. D&G was one of my first just last year. I don't own Obsession but I've sampled many times. 1. I like D&G better. 2. Obsession seems more suited to cooler weather. Comments re both: Here is an abbreviate version of my BN review for D&G: At first I didn't really like the intense fruitiness of D&G, but this is one fragrance that you will like more with each use. The intensity of the top notes gradually gives way to muted aromatic fruitiness that is completely fresh and pleasant. I never get tired of this scent (top and heart notes). Now, D&G also is, to me, the best in my 6-fragrance wardrobe in sillage, projection and longevity. One application works all day long. Re Obsession, it's pleasant, powdery, sort of warm Oriental spiciness to it. I think I probably will get it in 2008. Cheers, brother! Why do you think Obsession is for 50+ crowd? Just because it was release years before D&G? I myself don't think that some scents are 'older' than others - young person might wear some classics like Habit Rouge and smell totally great. Thank you. Answer: Obsession is a sweet, comfortable, romantic oriental. Due to its popularity, lots of people are familiar with it. D&G to me is one of those top- citrus, base- musky fragrances. It is fairly popular now and has a deserved reputation as a romantic fragrance. Personally, I had to buy Obsession because of all of my personal fond associations with it. If you're buying a fragrance to go clubbing with and don't mind that other guys may be wearing the same thing, then D&G is your thing. If you're going for something to wear outside of work at the semi-formal level and want it to be different from what people are wearing, then Obsession. Not sure if this helps or not... Answer: I have to take the D+G side here. Why? - There are lots of great scents in the same family as Obsession and I think you can find a spicy oriental that is much more interesting than Obsession (Egoiste and my personal favorite - Trumper's Sandalwood - to name just 2). On the other hand, I think the juicy/fruity citrus (as opposed to sharp or effervescent as citrus often comes off) of D+G PH combined with smooth tobacco make it a real gem. I wouldn't worry too much about a lot of other people wearing D+G - if you wear it well it doesn't matter who else has it on. Also on this subject, I don't think its really all that popular. At least not anymore. Thats just my $0.02. If you don't actually notice it frequently in your daily life, then I would say you have nothing to worry about. Answer: I have owned both and I think that D&G is the best choice. Obsession's heavy sweetness on me wasn't always pleasant and I love D&G every time I wear it. Answer: Just a side note - I'm 39 so I'm no spring chicken. My comments were just my 2 cents, and that's about what my opinion is worth! No offense intended. Simply put: I see Obession for my Dad, D&G for me. For others, you can probably flip it around! I apologize if I stepped on toes! Answer: I like D&G better. Obsession to me is a very streamlined oriental. Perfect balance for some, but for me, there are more interesting alternatives. Can't really say how it works in warm weather, but I would imagine D&G to be better for that due to it's citrus top. Answer: Not to steer this too far off the track, but if I were obliged to choose between Obsession and Opium PH, I would stick with the latter due to its unbelievably sublime drydown. I agree, too, with the comments re D&G's citric aromatic nature. The sense is that it is cooler, thermally, if that makes any sense. Although it's hard to imagine D&G being...uncloying...in the first 15 minutes....it settles down quite nicely. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
