Answer:
seems like the general consensus is terre d'hermes.
must get my hands on a sample/decant

Answer:
just did a squirt of Sireneuse d'Italie Paestum Rose at a store today, and it is my new favorite rose scent of all time. so gotta add it to the list as it's a fairly recent release...

Answer:
TdH is certainly the best of the last year or so, and I'd venture to say Perry Ellis 360 Black is in a far-distant second.

Answer:
Virgin Island Water by Creed is quite lovely - salty beach, a very subtle coconut, a hint of lime (?) and really nice longevity

Answer:
Atman by Phat Farm (2006). Aromatic fougere, suede at the bottom. Nice, manly. Cool bottle.

Answer:
Yes, I have to agree with props for both Terre d'Hermes and Burberry London; I've purchased a bottle of the former. I was also quite impressed by L'Artisan's Fou d'Absinthe and Dzongkha, and Le Labo's Vetiver 46 and Tubereuse 40; I've received decants of Dzongkha and Vetiver 46. Both Guerlain Vetiver Extreme and Vetiver Sport were also to my liking, though neither quite as much as the original. Montale's Black Aoud and Tauer's Orris also stand out among the 2006 releases; I've received a decant of Orris.

I found Baldessarini's Ambre, YSL's L'Homme, Eau d'Italia's Sienne L'Hiver and Prada's Man all just "ok."

Wow! When first considering this question I didn't think that I'd had much of an opportunity to try many new releases!

Answer:
As most Basenoters I love Terre D' Hermes. Other new favorites are: Montale's Blue Amber
Tom Ford's Black Orchid
Bois d'Ombrie by the house that also produces Paestum Rose
