Philosykos vs Marc Jacobs - Page 2
Question:
Where Philosykos is beautiful, pure, and smooth, the Heeley is somewhat harsh and rough around the edges. While that may work well for many types of scents, for fig scents I think it's best when things lean towards the pretty and clean side.

I've been very curious about Heeley's fig scent but have been hesitant, because their leather interpretation was very disappointing - it was very harsh and hardly smelt of leather.

Answer:
Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme and Good Life are my favourite long lasting and masculine fig scents. I never warmed to Marc Jacobs much. The niche fig scents I've tried are nice enough, but are usually unisex and not particularly long lasting on me.

Answer:
Have you tried Ichnusa by Profumum?
Notes: myrtle, fig-tree wood, cut grass
For Mark Jacobs I can not say

Answer:
I just tested Wild Fig by DSH yesterday. It has juicy and green qualities similar to Philosykos, but on me the longevity was relatively poor.
QUESTION. I've sampled Philosykos by applying 2 sprays of EdT to a wrist, whereas I sampled the DSH Wild Fig by applying 2-3 drops to each wrist. The DSH was from a sample vial, not sure if it's perfume oil or EdP. Was it realistic of me to expect this to have longevity comparable to, or better than, the Philosykos?
OBSERVATION. Strangely, no fig (fruit/leaves/wood) is listed among the notes for DSH Wild Fig. This is from the DSH website:
Top notes: Bergamot, Cassis Bud, Petitgrain
Middle notes: Muguet (Lily of the Valley), Peach
Base notes: Atlas Cedarwood, Brown Oakmoss, Galbanum, Tonka Bean

Answer:
My mom thought that Marc Jacobs smelled like Dana's el-cheapo English Leather (to which I disagree).
To be honest, English Leather smells horrible, but Marc Jacobs smells really nice. Haven't smelled Philosykos, but, then again, I'm not much of a niche guy.

Answer:
I prefer Philosykos in the spring because it evokes fresh, green imagery. A very clean scent with just the right amount of sweetness. The white cedar in this one is what sold me on it.
I like Marc Jacobs in the middle of summer because the similarity between the coconut note and modern tanning oils. For me, Marc Jacobs is a one-spray-wonder that I walk into rather than applying directly. Too much can become very cloying. Great longevity, eight hours plus, in the summer months.

I'm kinda late replying to this post, but I just tried Heeley's Fig today and I LIKE! It reminds me of the 'dirty' florals (Rose Poivree, Voleur de Roses) in that it has that strong meaty fig note mixed with...branches and stems..?
I like this MUCH better than Marc Jacobs or Philosykos. Not sure if I'm going to purchase a fig scent soon, but if I do this will be the one!
Try it guys - Luckyscent sells samples.

Answer:
From a woman's point of view, Marc Jacobs, on my skin, it was very coconutty, and was nice for about 10 min., but then was very watery. Not offensive, but not exciting either. I never smelled Philosykos, but from what I heard it is more a "green fig" scent. I bought this "Wild Fig" by Henri Bendel, for Mom, it's powerful, maybe a little too sweet for a guy, but's it's figgy.
L' Artisan makes a fig fragrance called Premier de Figuier (something to that effect, don't quote me on the exact spelling & name.)

Answer:
Wild Fig? Love the name!
Someone should name their fig scent: Big Fig
