Philosykos vs Marc Jacobs
Question:
Hi all, I am quite familiar with Philosykos, but I am not familiar with Marc Jacobs or any other fig based scent. Has anyone road-tested fig scents against Philosykos and come to any conclusions? I see Marc Jacobs is marketed specifically for men, but is it in reality any more masculine than Philosykos? Are they equally good in heat and humidity? Thanks. Answer: Marc Jacobs is closer to the skin, and has a coconut feel to it that almost makes it a sunscreen. It is very good though. Philosykos is a creamy, more edible fig. Of the two, Marc Jacobs gets the formal situation nod, and Philosykos gets the ingenuity nod. I'd assume that Marc Jacobs does better in heat, but I haven't tested Philosykos in the heat yet. - Rich Answer: I have yet to test Philosykos but Marc Jacobs is awesome in the sun. It almost beats all citrus/fresh scents when it comes to refreshing a sunny day. Answer: Please test Marc Jacobs before making a blind purchase! I bought a bottle and gave it away...then, doubted my actions and bought it again! Nope, I was right the first time. For me it was nasty stuff! I am sure there is a fig leaf accord in there somewhere but the coconut and the florals (gardenia)! There was something in it that smelled very artificial to me as well. Philosykos on the other hand is pure perfection. It's green and to me it smells very natural. I hear that Heeley has a fig fragrance (on luckyscent.com) that is supposed to be great. Answer: Don't get too excited about the Heeley. Answer: Originally Posted by The_Giraffe Don't get too excited about the Heeley. I live in Miami, and even in the heat, I found it cloying. I have not smelled Diptyque's but I have sampled L'Artisan Parfumer's fig scent (I think it's called Premier Figuier) and instantly understand the nice difference in this one...it was like oh, ok, this is what a fig fragrance is supposed to smell like. Answer: I would take Marc Jacobs over Philosykos. The fig note in Philosykos is strong. I didn't give it that much of a chance...i felt like I smelled like a garden too much...maybe I'll try it again.. But for me I'll take marc jacobs Answer: I prefer Philosykos, but some think Marc Jacobs is very good. Scentemental has put in a good word for it here, as I recall. I'm not thrilled by it, but it's not bad. Also, try Wild Fig and Cassis by Jo Malone. Answer: I guess Trumpet Guy said my piece. I fell hard for Philosykos when I first found fragrances and I've never let up. I should add a note to the current springtime fragrances thread that Philosykos is dyn-o-mite in the cool air of early spring when you still need a jacket and light gloves. Marc Jacobs isn't bad at all but since I have Philosykos Marc Jacobs feels flashy and overdone in comparison. Sort of gaudy, but it doesn't smell bad at all. I like having the gardenia in it I guess. I prefer Marc Jacobs to L'Artisan's Premier Figuier--I dislike the L'Artisan but don't mind Marc Jacobs. Anyone can do a lot worse than Marc Jacobs. If I smell it on anyone in town I'll have real respect for the guy, but my nose prefers Philosykos for abolute certain. Never tried the Heeley or the Jo Malone. I have a bottle of Molinard's Fleur du Figuier, though, and I like how dirty and sticky its fig is, but it's not a graceful scent, and doesn't develop much. For me Philosykos. --Chris Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
