I havent been too impressed by his Lutens offerings, and I felt that Serge Lutens was exerting a strong arabian influence on the design of his scents - maybe the Les Exclusifs will reveal more of his style and capabilities. Answer: I don'tknow about the rest of you, but I found this article extremely informative and Sheldrake's employment by Chanel to be very exciting. I can't wait to smell his new creations! Let's hope that antiquated stereotypes continue to be disproved. I agree we're all one big happy family. But how is Paris accepting this? I really do want to know how the guy who was the "nose" at a niche house, granted it was Shiseido snuck in and became one of the top "noses" in the world. there are prodigys in music and chess and math and now scent. Bravo If I understand correctly, he still reports to Jacques Polge, whos the head perfumer (Sheldrake's the deputy perfumer) Answer: Originally Posted by zztopp If I understand correctly, he still reports to Jacques Polge, whos the head perfumer (Sheldrake's the deputy perfumer) "Sheldrake is now the deputy perfumer at Chanel, where he works with Jacques Polge, the head perfumer of the house." I mean let's not get hysterical, after all what the hell is a "deputy perfumer" anyways? It sounds like Chanel got him under contract so he won't be able to create for anyone else. I've worked for French Luxury houses for many years and this is a normal practice. Perhaps Shiseido is about to pull the plug on Lutens like they did with Iunx. Jacques Polge is still the nose, the name and the glory of the house of Chanel. Answer: I like to get hysterical and then we play badmitton till dawn, but thats just me. Who has the "Number One Nose" in the world and how, or what, does he have to do, to be be rated so? And there's the new CEO at Chanel who has promised a rather large shakeup.
