What is an Extrait?
Question:
Is this like a concentrated parfum or one of the ingredients to make the scent? Answer: It generally means the most concentrated perfume sold over the counter. Anywhere from 15% - 30% perfume oil solution. Answer: Thanks for your reply. It would probably wear the longest but does this mean that the perfume keeps longer or is it more susceptible to damage? Now that, I don't really know. Maybe someone else can answer that for you. Sorry. There is a lot of fragrance info. at: http://www.auntjudysattic.com/About_Perfume.htm Maybe try there. Good Luck! Answer: Extrait de parfum is the french term for the most concentrated form of fragranced juice, as in the ratio of aromatic oils to alcohol. Also known simply as parfum. It lasts longer thus, although it may be not significantly stronger than eau de toilette or eau de parfum. Now if you have seen a term such as extrait de rose or something comparable (with a "de....something after it")it means it is an essence used in the perfume and it is not the above. Parfum/extrait lasts OK, although the aromatic oils are more susceptible to damage by light or temperature shifting. The elevated alcohol in other forms has its benefits, you see. Depends on where you saw/read this term exactly. If it is on a perfume carton, of course it is the concentration. Answer: Thanks so much for your input. You're such a lovely community.
