Cabotine
Question:
Ok, I saw this as a set at TJ Maxx this weekend for a ridiculously low price. Having just paid the bills, I set it back, but I am still wondering "should I have"? In the directory I read that it's "green." I like O de Lancome and Mitsouko, Violette Precieuse, and many floral and powdery scents. Would this suit, do you think? I would appreciate any suggestions before my curiosity gets the better of me. Thanks! Answer: You should not buy this before you test it. It is very sweet, like warm green syrup. Many here quite like it, but I find it to be too peircingly soprano. If it is found cheaply once, it will be found cheaply again. Would this suit, do you think? I would appreciate any suggestions before my curiosity gets the better of me. Thanks! First of all, Shycat is right. You should try before you buy. Especially with this one though. You see, if you told me that you liked Tendre Poison, Vent Vert and Fracas I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you try this. It's greens and tuberose along these lines, and very loud at that (at least to my nose). The greens you described are more in the way of chypre citrus and woody. Completely different thing than Cabotine... Originally Posted by Shycat You should not buy this before you test it. It is very sweet, like warm green syrup.(...) I find it to be too peircingly soprano. The "soprano" part described it bang on, Shycat! LOL! And I can't stress more how so much better it is to try before you buy. There is no other way to tell. Regardless of the price, do you really want to have a perfume you don't like lying around un-enjoyed? Answer: Cabotine is very flowery, and it has a clear chypre undertone. On me, it's very green, and, it's a lot like O de Lancome, but not as sweet. In the drydown, Cabotine is musky on me, and I get the woodsy patchouli and sandalwood notes as well. www.osmoz.com categorizes Cabotine as a chypre-floral. www.Parfumsgres.com lists Cabotine's notes as: Tangerine, Ginger,Ylang-ylang, Ginger Lily, Hyacinth, Tuberose, Patchouli,Sandalwood, Musk. The best advice is definitely to try before you buy. I've loved Cabotine for a long time, and I've been able to get it for a ridiculously good price. TJ Maxx always seems to have it, and it's widely available on discount fragrance sites. After you try it, if you like it I'm sure you'll be able to find a great deal somewhere. Cabotine Bleu and Cabotine Rose are lovely as well, and are sold quite cheaply, too. Answer: My scent from this morning faded to the point that I can't smell it, so I just sprayed on some Cabotine. It smells very citrusy at first; a burst of tangerine. After that, individual notes are hard for me to identify. It smells like a florist bouquet with just a tiny hint of spice. It's kind of tropical (I think this is the way I identify the tuberose), and it's a very "lush" fragrance - absolutely not to be oversprayed, ever - but is is extremely clean-smelling. I think of Cabotine as an "energizing" fragrance. I think you'd like this one a lot, based on the scents you've listed. (But still try before you buy!) Let me know what you think. I'm always fascinated to read other's interpretations of fragrances that I love. Answer: I wondered when Tovah would come along on this thread I too am a Cabotine convert and look forward to wearing it alot more often. It's especially a good scent to go to when I just can't make up my mind what to wear. Kind of like a favorite pair of black pants. Love it, will always have it. I'm definitely a green floral lover, and I love very "up" fragrances. Of course, as everyone says, try before you buy. But if it's really inexpensive, maybe it's not such a risk if you know you like this type of fragrance. Answer: I still have my bottle of Cabotine--it's a lovely bottle. Ylang -ylang is the note that I have trouble with, but Tovah is right, I overapplied the first time I wore it...for a summer car trip.....eh....not good. Being the good (kinda) basenoter that I am, I will try it again under more congenial circumstances this spring! Answer: Tried it, liked it, bought it. It is different from my other greens, but similar enough to the power house florals that I like. I can really smell the coriander. Think this can go for warm or cold weather. Answer: Thanks for this thread! My Marshall's has the same offer and I considered taking advantage (blind) but have a space v. lust thing. Finished off a couple of bottles and now have room....maybe I'll stop by on my way to work....sounds yummy!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
