Your suggestions are much appreciated ! Rose was considered a masculine scent in Arab cultures and was worn by Arab men for centuries.
My favourite rose scents are darker and at times spicy, and I think they will work wonderfully on a man:

First, this topic pops up from time to time, so you may want to do a search to find additional recommendations and insights. There were at least a few long threads about rose fragrances in the past.
So many great rose scents.
- Malle Une Rose
- C&S no.88
- C&S Dark Rose
- SL Rose de Nuit
- Iquitos
- Any of 10 or so Montales are also good
I have not tried it, but I would bet MPG's Rose Opulente is amazing.

I don't normally disagree with narcus but I must here: I find Iquitos a wonderful scent: it is what I thought C&S 88 was going to be and was very disappointed to find it wasn't. Iquitos is a wonderful blend that really gives me the romance of roses in a wearable way.
By comparison, to my nose, C&S 88 is that synthetic rose smell you get in toilet fresheners. I know many disagree, which is why I am happy about putting it on my swap list.
