The new CLEAN scents
Question:
At least I think they're new. I went to Sephora today and tested Lather, Warm Cotton and Shower Fresh. Now, although I have a fondness for clean, fresh fragrances, I have never liked anything from the Clean line, except for Ultimate. But I thought these new ones were an improvement. My quick impressions: Lather - On first sniff, I thought, could it be? Why, this smells like Dove soap! The white bar. I love that smell!!! I know I've asked on fragrance boards in the past if anyone knew of a fragrance that resembled Dove soap, and I've also seen other people ask this question. Someone must have been listening! I was really happy until I sniffed again a few moments later and it almost became cloying and there was some note that's almost nauseating. This stuff is potent! On drydown it seemed to change and smelled almost chypre-ish (could that have been the EL Private Collection I had sprayed on my hand?). I know I will try this again in the future, but maybe just a tiny spritz. Warm Cotton - Smells like laundry detergent to me on first sniff. I know that doesn't sound appealing, but it really wasn't bad. Later, it smelled more like clean, fresh sheets still warm from the dryer, except more fragrant, like I used super fragrant detergent or something. I had tried Clean's Fresh Laundry in the past and found that nauseating for some reason. I like Warm Cotton much better. It seems redundant that they have 2 laundry scents. Shower Fresh - I get shampoo. It's nice, though. Familiar, but I can't figure out which brand it smells like. I didn't try this one on my skin. No more room on my arms! So overall, I would say I like these. To me, they're pleasant and would be fun to wear, especially for work (no one could accuse me of wearing too much perfume. I'd just smell strongly of soap, shampoo and laundered clothes, LOL). But what stops me cold is the price. $76 a bottle! Can't really justify it. That's why I never bought Ultimate. The only one that might hook me is Lather. Will have to try that one again. Answer: If they were priced around $15-$20 I might find them tempting but I won't even test them because the price is just RIDICULOUS. I had Demeter's Laundromat, it was very nice but waaaaay too fleeting. Answer: The original Clean EDP was at Costco recently for $38 -- that's the only reason I own it. Nice stuff, but not at $76 a pop. Answer: Yes, I was thinking that if they offered these 3 as a set for $76, that would be a more fitting price for what they are. I will say that the lasting power seems to be much better than Demeters, but still. Wow, I'll keep my eyes peeled when I go to Costco. If by chance they ever get Lather there, I might buy it for $38. Answer: I loved Clean for Men - however I think the new Clean scents are ultra-boring and overpriced. Yawn. Answer: Dang, I was just @ Sephora today & would've loved to have tried these. Too bad I just went in to look for a couple specific things, then left. I, too, LOVE Clean Men. I adore its fizzy soapy goodness. It's one of my comfort scents. The only reason I own it is because a generous basenoter offered it to me @ a price I couldn't refuse. There's no way I'd pay the astronomical retail price!!! And it doesn't even look like you can get a good price on ebay, either. Anyways, next time I'm @ Sephora I'll give the new ones a sniff. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
