scam on ebay!!
Question:
Don't know where to post this one. Moderator, please move it if it's not in the right spot. I've noticed this seller on ebay and thought it was very fishy that she was selling so many vintage perfumes all at once. This may explain it.

There has been some discussion on Frag board over at MUA about Ebay sellers who apparently are into an elaborate scam of rare/vintage stuff: they sell very very rare or vintage bottles that seem to be what they have bought empty and re-filled themselves.
Read this before it gets deleted or something, it's eye opening (lots of info crammed):

There are also lots of other threads there with subsequent info:

It seems that the whole thing is based in Pennsylvania and I wonder what resources do people who have been scammed have on this.
It's terribly bad, whatever it is....I feel sorry for those who bought in all innocence.

Answer:
I've noticed this sellers items and have been intrigued. I wonder why her "alleged" victims have given her such glowing feedback? Her one negative is from a seller, not a buyer. Can it be that all her buyers are in on this? While it is not outside the realm of possibility, is it really likely? I also noticed that there was concern that she bought flower bulbs and got positives for that....so, she likes gardening.
I wonder how the other message boards have discovered this "scam" and if it is true why she has so many current items for sale. As for the other seller and why they bought 60 items so quickly...well it's easy to get caught up in ebay, especially if you have found a lot of thngs you love or if you have a business. I know of vintage jewelry sellers who buy plenty of their stock from ebay.
I've bought some wonderful vintage parfums on ebay, and I have had an experience or two when I was not thrilled (the fragrance had gone bad). Old "juice" is a risk you take with sealed vintage items and with any vintage scent.
I prefer to reserve judgment and assume that all the positive feedback is real...not that I can afford some of her thing, mind you, but I can't imagine that people would get fake items and still be delighted!
If this person or persons are acting fraudulently, I hope they are prosecuted, but I don't think that can be resolved on message boards

For what it may be worth, this latest post is pretty darn convincing to yours truly:

But that's just me.

Answer:
Yeah - I thought it sounded pretty unequivocal too - there's definitely something fairly outrageous going on there.

This is the empty bottle he just bought and is now selling as 'Polkadotpatty'.
BUYER BEWARE!!
He keeps his buyers private so they can't be warned at this pointt.

Answer:
Zibeline: the bulb thing was to point out that this man seems to be/may be using more than one eBay acct. to mask his alleged scheme. His non-fragrances purchases on at least two accounts have been for bulbs and this is one of many many coincidences that are getting hard to over-look. In one acct someone in PA buys rare, empty, vintage bottles...and bulbs. On another, shortly after those buys, another acct belonging to someone in PA who also happens to buy bulbs, and the exact same very rare vintage bottles are sold as never used, sealed (often with wax) and full of fragrance. This doesn't mean that some of his auctions aren't legit, but some are at least suspect. He also is buying more parafilm which, coincidentally, could be used with a blow dryer to look like an original wax seal on vintage bottles.
I posted about this in the section hidden away in City Shopping Guides under Post eBay Fragrance Seller Feedback Here.
I hope this thread stays where it is as it's more likely to be viewed here, and people can make more informed choices about purchases.

Answer:
She/He bought my half full 5oz Caron Tabac Blond EDC, I hope she didn't add something to it & then resell it
What a shame, she/he really was a very nice buyer out of North Carolina.

Answer:
Although it seems to me that something is very wrong with this seller, I have to disagree about that Apres l'Ondee bottle. The empty bottle has a distinctive tear and rubbed off bits of label that are not present on the 'full' bottle.

Answer:
Markscarltonlane polkadotpatty heaveninaflacon fouroaksantiques merciernestbeaux, etc, etc, Is filling empty bottles and reselling them. Mua members and others are compiling info for the FBI at this moment. Don't buy from polkadotpatty. If you have, reevaluate your purchase. He is sealing and faking in a sophisticated manner, and blending the juice to deceive.

Plus it's quite a coincidence.
