A floral Iris?
Question:
Are there any frags that smell like the opening of Dior Homme? I'd love something dry and floral, centering on that Iris note. My experience with iris up til now was a more stem/root smell. Dior Homme's note was cleaner and more floral. Anything else out there like that? Answer: Quote: Originally Posted by Carlos Are there any frags that smell like the opening of Dior Homme? Anything else out there like that? Quite an accurate observation: the iris note is derived from the iris rhizome (an underground stem), and not from the iris flower which, if it has any scent at all, suggests cherry hard candy. That said, Malle's Iris Poudre is an absolutely gorgeous iris/floral blend. A definite must-sample item! Answer: Hermes Hiris. I think it's a perfect, realistic iris floral. As some reviews here say, it does take a while (20-30 minutes) to develop. Answer: Quote: Originally Posted by dwntwnjay Hermes Hiris. I think it's a perfect, realistic iris floral. There's also MPG's Iris Bleu Gris, but that's much, much less (if at all) floral. All three are perfectly unisex, by the way, though Iris Poudre and Iris Bleu Gris have a distinct formality about them. You may find Hiris easier to wear on a daily basis. Answer: I love the iris in l'homme de coeur by Divine. Joe Answer: Hiris by Hermes Answer: As a fellow devotee of Villoresi's Uomo, I'm also with Joe Frances on this one; L'Homme de Coeur is a superb masculine iris scent. Answer: I second Hermès Hiris, which is more floral than the wonderful L'Homme de Coeur. If you want a more pronounced floral accord, try Iris Nobile by Acqua di Parma (focused on iris blossom, not on the root, so it hasn't any dryness at all); if you want it drier and less sweet than Dior Homme, you could try Sege Lutens' Iris Silver Mist - a cold, metallic, powdery and very charismatic iris scent. Gerald speaks the truth! He pretty mich wrote exactly what I was about to write, apart from the bit about Iris Nobile which I've yet to try (shame on me). Hermès Hiris with L'Homme de Coeur as a runner up (not much floral notes in play with this one, but has isolated the cold but comfortable pencil like grey hue from Dior Homme perfectly. Kind of linear though. Iris Silver Mist if you want to go all the way... Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
