Czech & Speake Neroli in comparison
Question:
how does Czech & Speake Neroli compare to the likes of SL Fleur de Citonnier or Fragonard's Cologne grand luxe ?? i hope it's not the same light fresh neroli version of grand luxe. actually am looking for the stronger, sharper version of neroli which is what the reviews are saying on C&S's (something similar to FDC's opening burst). dont have access to sample C&S Neroli so i would need to depend on reviews and comments also, what do you guys think of 88? sounds interesting.. am just a bit concerned about the vetiver base (unfortunately i dont think im a fan of vetiver as in Guerlain's Vetiver.. sorry i know a lot of you love it, hehe) -charles Answer: C&S is the best neroli you can get,IMHO. Answer: im gonna die.. the shipping to Singapore is so expensive, haha.. waahh!! good luck to me lol.. if i decide to buy i hope it's worth it Answer: I honestly have never tried the other Neroli's of which you speak, so I can only vouch for the C&S formula, but I absolutely adore it. It isn't terrifically long-lasting (on me, at least) and it is a very straigtforward Neroli type. Very fresh, very clean, and in opinion, doesn't need any other notes at all. As far as the No. 88 is concerned? I am a believer that someone at Czech & Speake sold their soul to the devil to make this one, as it is and has been one of my favorite scents ever. Everything to everyone being subjective, however, I will be willing to stop before I pronounce it one of the greatest colognes of all time. Make the efforts to sample both, I'd say; I think they are worth the money, but I know everyone isn't willing to fork over $100 each for scents. Answer: I have not smelled C and S Neroli, however please try L'Occitane Neroli (if you haven't already) - its very nice and its very strong (2-3 sprays at the most last all day) I absolutely ADORE C and S No. 88 - and I don't get any vetiver from this one, though. It's much more of a evil rose scent...and it kind of creeps up and changes into many different variations on the rose theme. Yes, maybe perhaps a whisper of vetiver in there, but really the rose notes are at the center of this 'storm'. Please try a sample of it, though, before you buy. Some people find it unwearable. Answer: i'll try to get samples of these C & S's unfortunately again, L'occitane has discontinued Neroli!! and just as quickly, the stocks here in the L'Occitane stores are gone Answer: The closest twin to C&S Neroli is Penhaligon's Castile IMO. I find L'Occitane's Neroli more opulent, softer and more intense. An excellent take on Neroli and definitely a class of its own (Given the price it is almost a must-have). No 88 is a full, dark, winey, strong rose. One of my all-tim favourite, but, as mikeperez said before, try before you buy - it's a love-or-hate scent.
