Has anyone ever tried Demeter fragrances?
Question:
Hi Folks, I was just wondering if someone here has ever tried any Demeter fragrances... They're hard to find here (not to say impossible) and i'm interested in buying some blind since I found an online seller... I'm quite interested in "Rain" and "Between the sheets". Nice names, at least... What do you think about them? Good longevity, natural ingredients? Answer: I've tried a few, and owned one. They are pretty good! Rain is a good one, as is Thunderstorm, and Wet Garden. The silly thing is that on ebay and froogle.com, they are always listed as being for women. But there are quite a few male scents from Demeter, and mostly unisex scents, but the people on ebay and froogle don't pick up on that for some reason. They list all of the male scents as women's scents, and all of the unisex scents as women's scents too! Kind of silly. Answer: Oh man, if you're disappointed w/ the longevity of Reaction, you aint seen nothing yet! Demeter frags are "pick me up" scents, rather than actual colognes. Most disappear within minutes. To me, they're the Jelly Belly's of the frag world. You spray them on & marvel about how they smell like the name suggests. And to my nose, the drydown is REALLY synthetic. The Demeter frags may make good car fresheners, though. Answer: My advice to you would be is DON'T buy them. There are much better fragrances out there to buy. Answer: Well, there is no "unisex" fragrance listing option when you're going to sell something on eB@y - and that must be why sellers list them for women (maybe they also assume women are the most likely buyers of fragrance). It also costs the seller more money to chose more than one listing category. Anyway, I have Demeter Sandalwood. I was really keen on it to begin with because it smelled quite true - like furniture or incense. After a while I started to notice the synthetic dry-down. I agree that they are great as room sprays or car sprays. Demeter Fig is particularly nice. I am trying to sell my Sandalwood Pick Me Up because I've used it all of two times and I don't feel like using it anymore. Demeter Pick Me Ups are exactly as the name describes: they are for "picking you up", not really supposed to be used as a perfume, just for fun. Answer: Yes, I bought two and regretted it. The fragrance is weak and not very natural smelling. I use them for room frsheners now. Answer: I currently own Grapefruit Tea, and Pomegranate. Both do smell wonderful, but as mentioned, have virtually no lasting power. On the plus side though, I purchased them really cheap and they make great pillow sprays. Answer: Ginger Ale and Gin and Tonic were the only ones I liked. But if I was you I would save my money on these. Live Your Life, Otto Answer: They were a fun novelty for me when they first came out. You're initially amazed that so many familiar, everyday aromas can be captured in commercial fragrances. However, you eventually notice the high volume of alcohol in them, which becomes more noticeable in the drydown. Due to the amount of alcohol involved, it's unwise to buy a number of them, as some will go bad within a year or two (smelling of nothing BUT alcohol). I must've owned 8-10 of them at one time, and the only one I've held onto is Snow (which has probably "turned" by now anyway). I finally got sick of their quick-disappearing notes, as well as the fact that they'e hard to find - meaning that you're most often forced to buy them blindly online - so it became easy to "get over" the Demeter craze. Answer: I walked into an Urban Outfitters the other day and tried some. Pleasant enough, but they all had the longevity of a snowball in the Sahara. For the $20 an ounce they wanted, I'll pass.
