Question:
I just got my bottle of Jaïpur Homme from a swap, sprayed it on my wrist and, bam!, I realized that I may have to take Hypnotic Poison off my wish list now. They seem to be almost one and the same. HP's bitter almond note, which starts off real doughy seems to be equal to JH's heliotrope.
Please tell me if I'm deluded or not?

Personally, I feel that Davidoff's Silver Shadow and Viktor & Rolf's Antidote are far more similar to Hypnotic Poison than Jaipur Homme.

I have Boucheron Jaipur pour homme too and can see how the sweet powdery gourmand facet could create a sense of similarity but I find Jaipur a more complex, spicey interesting scent than Dior's Hypnotic Poison could ever hope to be. Boucheron Jaipur pour homme has much more in common with Givenchy's Organza Indecence, Tiffany's Tiffany For Men and Caron's Farnesiana than Hypnotic Poison.

Dior Hypnotic Poison, to my biased interpretations, is easily duped by pre-mixing Boucheron Trouble with YSL Body Kouros in a 1:2 part ratio. Or by layering YSL Body Kouros with Cacharel Gloria Bath & Body Oil. Azzaro Visit pour homme is also similar sans the amaretto / almond.

I finally got to check out Hypnotic Poison recently, and wow, very nice!!! But I'll admit that a connection between those didn't occur to me, though.

It's only a "revisit" of the classics (there are versions in metal- silver and gold- of Trouble EDP, Boucheron PH EDT and Boucheron for women EDT) in a "more prestigious" presentation.
