4 Stars for Agent Provocateur says Chandler Burr
Question:
Check it out: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/17/st...?ref=tmagazine

Answer:
If I hadn't done so already, this review would make me run out to try Agent Provocateur. Don't know if I actually want to smell dirty, but the idea is interesting. Unfortunately, on me this fragrance is just heavy, generic, and nose-shrivelingly powdery; it smells cheap, not as in "sleazy", but like a pharmacy chain's low-end offering
Anybody get this fruity, fleshy effect from Agent Provocateur? I'm wondering if CB tried this stuff on himself, or women he knows, since gender-related body chemistry may seriously affect the way this comes off.

Answer:
To me it is just another fashionable generic cheap perfume indistinguishable from so many others. I keep trying it as I walk through the perfume depts, keen to know what I'm missing, but I just don't get it. Same goes for Narcisco Rodrigues, Kingdom, Boudoire, ad infinitum.

Answer:
I recall Agent Provocateur being a powdery mess on myself as well, but this makes me want to give Rose 31 a longer inspection. I only smelled it once, briefly, on a test blotter.

Answer:
Fruity powdery disaster on me too. I never got anything as interesting as the virtual thongs he's talking about!

Answer:
Sheeeesh. Now I gotta try it!

Answer:
Agent Provocateur is very well worth trying! I find it interesting, but too sharp, so I have got myself Agent Provocateur Eau Emotionelle instead, who is sort of similar but more gentle, and really wonderful, IMO! It is because of APEE I donīt get myself Narciso Rodriguez for Her.

Answer:
I found AP to be disappointing...I think Boudoir, Bal a versailles, and Musc Ravageur are much "dirtier" to use his turn of phrase. And Bal and Boudoir are pretty good bargains, too

Answer:
Absolutely agree on Bal a Versailles. It's positively rude - it seems to me to be a much bolder and sexier perfume than Agent Provocateur, and I think it's very beautiful. (It's also a very friendly price.)

Answer:
I am trying L'Autre now for the first time. I have to say, at least initially yikes!!! I'm not sure I should go out in public smelling like this. It is the cummin that smells like crotch sweat. That reminds me of Rochas 'Femme'. I like it in Femme because it melds with the heady plums and peaches and is a great countpoint for that sweetness. Perhaps a layer of 'Femme' over the top before leaving the house is in order. This L'Autre is hard to take, I have to say. Anyone out there a fan?
I've never tried AP. I have NR edp. It's all about peaches, rose & musk in a light chypre context. I liked it well enough in a sample, but now I find it a bit sweet & girly. Still, it's very good.
I tried a sample of APEE and wasn't impressed. Too soft and uninteresting.I don't see samples of the AP anywhere and they don't sell it here. If I want to try it I'll have to buy blind. I hope it's a sexy musk, Along the lines of NR but not so sweet.
