more of O. Creed's and BN gets it's nose tweaked
Question:
from this listing for O. Creed's cologne bottle http://cgi.ebay.com/OLIVIER-CREED-24...ILF%3AUS%3A102 comes this surprise description. partially OF COURSE THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC BOTTLE, I DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE NOSE OF OLIVIER TO MAKE A COPY OF HIS UNIQUE CREATIONS, EVEN WHEN I DO HAVE THE TIME TO MAKE UP SOME STORIES. LOL.. BOX HAS SOME DAMAGE BUT BOTTLE LABEL IS IN GOOD CONDITION, CAP MIGHT NEED SOME CLEANING IN ORDER TO SCREW IT ALL THE WAY IN, IT HAS SOME DRIED COLOGNE. MAYBE YOU CAN JUST FILL IT WITH YOUR FAVORITE FRAGANCE OR YOU COULD EVEN FILL IT WITH SCOTCH AND SELL IT TO A CREEDY-HYSTERIC FROM BASENOTE'S, I MEAN BASENOTES, I'M SURE THEY WOULDN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. LOL! JUST KIDDING! THANKS FOR LOOKING! and there's an aftershave listing here http://cgi.ebay.com/OLIVIER-CREED-12...ILF%3AUS%3A102 the edt's and aftershave look brand new and as if a pro photographer was used Answer: Ha! Free promo for Basenotes I am a bit skeptical of the backstory though - does this mean Erwin Creed had to create something too ? He doesnt have the name"henry" in his name. It would be interesting to read Olivier Creed's response to all this (via ParfumsRaffy). Answer: The importsguy - 1 up for for courage ! Aren't you our newest member, importsguy? I would like to know if you still have offers on German Ebay (other than empty Creed bottles, of course) ? I find some of your Californian stuff interesting , to say the least... Answer: is there anything to read from a Creed family member on ParfumsRaffy now? Answer: Quote: Originally Posted by fredricktoo is there anything to read from a Creed family member on ParfumsRaffy now? I thought a BN'er had contacted ParfumsRaffy about this, and they inturn had forwarded the query to Olivier Creed himself. This "hysteria" is nothing compared to what happened when the first ever SL Rousse bottle was listed on Ebay last year. At that time, the seller was bombarded by the hardcore SL fans (that would be 90% of the MUA and POL membership) regarding its authencity and the seller had to stop taking questions. I was wondering if there were any writings by Creed's for public consumption on ParfumsRaffy already. I'm curious to read and I have to get out a lot more I know. Answer: Hi BN friends, yes i am the newest and maybe youngest member! Thank you Gary for posting another thread about my listings, and also thank you because you noticed i am a profesional photographer, that is or maybe was my primary business since i started the perfume listings a year ago, i own a photo studio here in Tijuana but i do a lot of work in southern California, and yes, i am a US citizen born in Tijuana, not an "illegal". Even do when some pictures don't look so professional, when don't take them in my office desk, if i have time i take them in my studio. zztopp- Erwin Creed contributed with Himalaya in 2002, was the first fragance where he participated, he is now 26 narcus- everything i have should be offered world wide, if it is not specified, consider it as if it is. Regarding the "Olivier Creed" fragance background, honestly it was just an assumption, it makes sense, doesn't it?? i was between that and: "Olivier Creed fragance was a creation of James Henry Creed in 1943 when his first son Olivier Henry Creed was born, he launched it that year and he named it Olivier Creed after his newborn son" I think this could also be possible, i don't know the exact age of these bottles, but many of you know i have sold some Rosine and Hermes from the 30's, Guerlain's from the 40's, and most of the Dior's from the 50's 60's, in very good mint condition, so it is hard to tell how old they're by it's cosmetic condition. Answer: I dunno, maybe it's me, but as an American it seems like they type of hype-based marketing for which a seller simply screams. Creed has always has a very traditional marketing scheme; keep the packaging simple and let the product speak for itself. Even the shape of the Creed flagons harken back to the Napoleonic era, where Napoleon himself reputedly kept a "flask" of fragrance inside his boot due to the fact that he used it so often as to need it everywhere he went. That said, I don't for one second believe that the aforementioned bottle is genuine, and even if I did would not purchase it without knowing what it smelled like. Basenotes has a reputation for discriminating tastes, not for buying random bottles without knowing what the bottles might contain. I have several lovely bottles lying around, as well as enough label and document printing software to start my owm "Vogue" magazine. The fact that I don't use them as this seller has speaks volumes as to my shortness of free time as well as to the seller's lack of virtue. I for one suggest we do not spend one more minute discussing the virtues of the virtue-less. CJ Answer: WHAT WAS THAT???... OK, in order to make you guys happy, you can now find the vial sample of Olivier Creed in all it's variations, Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette and After Shave at a very reasonable price and with free shipping. I hope that somebody can confirm either if it is an original or a vintage fake. I promise I won't send you a vial of Chivas Regal. We cant confirm whether its the real thing because none of us know what it smells like, but I am interested in this offer - how about changing it to a "buy it now" instead of a 6 day bid ? -------------------------------------- oh and the importsguy, have you tried it ? what do you think of it ?
