Simple creations..
Question:
This thread is just out of curiosity. One of the things that surprised me most when I started taking an interest in fragrances was how many notes go into the creation of one perfume, even those that smell pretty basic list dozens of different notes. I'm still fascinated by this and I wondered if there are any mainstream perfumes out there that are actually made up of relatively few notes? Funny you should say that, because the first time I researched the notes for one of my all-time faves here on BaseNotes - L'Heure Bleue - I couldn't believe how few notes were listed for such (to me) an enticingly complex scent. Without looking I'd say five to seven at the most. (Actually - it's four!!!) Notes listed on the Guerlain site are another story....three times as many. So I guess it's a question of the source when it comes to knowing how many are"officially" included. Can't wait to see what the more experienced noses here have to say!
