Can You Recommend A Cologne For The "Sophisticated" Man, But That's Under $100
Question:
I have just started getting serious about cologne and while I am not going to buy 10 different kinds like some do, I feel 2 or 3 are fine. However I am not remotely as educated about colognes as some people on the board are and would appreciate any recommedations.
However I am not yet prepared to get into the over $100 dollar colognes like Creed or Bond 9 Central Park. Maybe one day, but for right now - I would appreciate any recommendations that are under $100 dollars and found in most stores ala Sears for example.
I am looking for that "sophisticated" cologne for the stylish gentleman if you know what I mean.To match with the well dressed and well hair styled image. I know it's a matter of testing different kinds and seeing what works, but I would appreciate a good starting point.
I don't want anything that smells like motor oil, really fruity or over the the top musky - however I do really like the tobacco/woodsy type of colognes like the Dolce and Gabanna por Homme (but everyone wears that apparently). I just want something that is masculine, compliments a nice suit and will give the impression of class and style when going to my important business meetings. But will still work with jeans and a t-shirt if need be.
I thank everyone for your time and recommedations.

Although not found at Sears stores, fragrances from the likes of SergeLutens, L'Artisan, MPG, Villoresi and many other niche brands can be bought for <= $100.

Answer:
With $100 you have many choices.
Dior Jules
Dior Eau Sauvage Extreme
Patou Pour Homme
Chanel Antaeus
Guerlain Habit Rouge
They smell sophisticated, IMHO.

Answer:
Many many many great scents, almost all great scents I'd even venture to say, are under $100.
Good question to ask though, when you ask where to start for that classy scent reflection of yourself. When this question comes up I always tell new members to try thing from Guerlain as a starting point. Habit Rouge, Vetiver, and L'Instant Pour Homme are great classics or classic type. They'll work really well for the situations you descibe. After those, try out things for men by Chanel.
I regret I don't know how available these lines are in your area or what's at Sears. They're fantastic starting places for great fragrance taste though.
Best luck!

Buy a bottle of Boucheron PH EdP for $40 here: http://www.scentiments.com/Product/S....aspx?id=91683
and get them to throw in a bottle of Gentleman for $26: http://www.scentiments.com/Product/S....aspx?id=96384
and that still leaves you just enough to get the Must de Cartier tester for $36 and just go a couple of bucks over $100 before shipping: http://www.scentiments.com/Product/S....aspx?id=96392
with those three, you'll be as "Sophisticated" on a budget as possible, imho

Thank you so much for the recommondations so far. Are any of the ones mentioned in the tobacco family of scents ala Dolce and Gabanna? In addition, when I say under $100 - I mean $100 would be the absolute most I would pay, so I am looking for colognes that are more in the $50 to $70 range.
