Tenere. Should I do it?
Question:
The reviews of Paco Rabanne Tenere sound very interesting and risky. I'm thinking about doing a blind buy which isn't too risky because I can probably sell or swap it if I don't like it. I just want more opinions on it.

Answer:
Why not? You only live once

Answer:
I say do it if the price is right. It's very interesting but I wouldn't pay the "discontinued frag" price for it. I bought a mini to test it and liked it enough to buy a bottle when it came available at a good price. The honey note in it reminds me a little of Miel de Bois, though not as over the top as that. (PM me if you'd like a mini or decant of it to test it out.)

Answer:
I agree. It's a very fine scent and not especially feminine. I think the balance of notes keeps it on the masculine side. It is kind of hard to find, so good luck!

Reading the bits I missed from your good self Eluard, you're not wrong about the Kourosy top-note - my brother was into his Kouros at the time, and at one point I was accused of stealing it after liberally applying my Tenere!
What's odd is that I can't stand Kouros (I also hate Marmite), but the way in which Tenere was constructed meant that the topnote which is the guilty party is more 'relevant' to the scent and thus becomes a whiff of joy rather than nausea.
I never thought about that before come to think of it; how some notes are an absolute delight when they're present in 'context' but a big whole pile of ming when not. Perhaps another thread for another day...

Answer:
Get it.
Another in the melancholy scent family.

Answer:
Yes, I think it's blind buy worthy. I bought two 50ml bottles a while back for pretty cheap. Even though I like it a lot I'm thinking of swapping one of them, since even though it's discontinued I don't see myself using up even one of the bottles for years. Overall, a very unique scent that was ahead of its time.

Yes, I agree completely about notes being able to work in one context and not work in another. To me, Ténéré is a Kouros that is actually beautiful — I don't hate Kouros but I do find it lacking in texture: it reminds me of one of those whitewash plastered walls in South America or Santorini: it is a bit featureless.
With Ténéré there is something going on between its ears.
