Source for Dunhill EdC
Question:
Before I retire once again to the groves of academe (make that salt mines), I need to pop this question. The discontinued original Dunhill for Men Eau de Cologne (1934) appears impossible to find. Anybody know a source preferably in Europe?
Thanks

Curiously, it is looking for this that's brought me to this fascinating site. I have the remains of the very first bottle I bought at Harrods in 1980 that I've kept as a souvenir, it has a black paper label round the base rather than the screen printed one. The few mls left have become darker and there are some strange blobs of a black oil floating around the bottom. Still smells nice though!.
I've bought a number of bottles since, now down to the last half of a bottle I bought 2 years ago. And tragically I too can't find any more... There was a bottle on Ebay last week which I bought, but what has appeared in the mail is Dunhill Edition and not the one pictured in the auction, so it's going to have to go back.

Answer:
Welcome to basenotes. Too bad your tidings concerning Dunhill do not sound very encouraging. Well, if you stick around you may soon find yourself to be the owner of a hundred or more fragrances other than that one. This site triggers uncanny consumer dynamics in some people - like myself

Answer:
There is a store near me that has bottles for $75 I think. The owner knows me well so he was nice enough to open a box so I could try it. Great stuff! I like it much better than Edition. I wanted to check the availability and pricing before I bought it but right now $75 looks like a good price so I might go back and get it.

Answer:
hello. i would like to put down the websites that do sell it, but I cannot write down the addresses. I will write down the names, however;
1stperfume - apparently one or two people here on basenotes have had negative experiences with this site, but i've ordered three bottles from them with no problem at all.
Nellbutler - shows the picture of the 2003 dunhill, but the description appears to be of the old one (rustic orange box, edc, 3.4oz).
There is another site that has a picture of the old dunhill and it says 'edc', but the notes it lists are not, i think, those of old dunhill. i will not give you the name of that. good luck.

Thanks for your comments, the sites mentioned do look as though they have the right stuff.
I've already ploughed into the Creed world, still looking for the one for me...
