R de Capucci, is it worthy of all the Hype?
Question:
I just got a bottle of this highly praised EdT and I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with it after reading all the raves. To me it is a bit like the original Capucci with Yatagan and Aramis added. It's nice, but a bit too 'super 80's macho' for me. Answer: I'm glad my one man evangalism has turned into "all the hype" . I'm gonna trick you into buying "pagan man" next I don't get any aramis in it?? Its a great 80's chypre. If you don't like those, you probably will not like "R" For me its the best of the bunch and my all time favourite. Answer: The basenotes reviews are also very gung-ho. They all had me hypnotized. LOL. I agree with you that it's a good fragrance, I just find it a bit derivative of the others I mentioned. I'm going back to my 'girlie man' Mitsouko before I go out a buy a Lamborghini. Answer: I started to tell everone who came here looking for advice to buy R de Capucci. Then I figured that's stealing a guys sig and I wouldn't want it done to me. I bought it because of the hypnotic effect. Until I had my 1oz bottle I was a nervous wreck. It's a great chypre. how is chypre pronounced phonetically? Answer: I smelled it from the bottle,it was fresh and green?I think a little cheap smelling but really nice. It's dirt cheap so can't go wrong with it. can anybody tell me where I can get Punjab by Capucci? Actually it was quite expensive in 1986, cheap now. I actually think they reformulated it without the real oakmoss but I am not sure. Our good friend the_good_life sells punjab and other capucci decants, check his sale thread. I like the Sang Royal and Jour D'ete too, though I have only had a little sniff of them as yet... Answer: Well, the reason it floored me is that while it's a classic chypre it's far far subtler than Yatagan or any of the other 70s/80s stuff. Yatagan is a Janissary brass band to 'R's' smooth "Take 5" sax. It wears so easy. smells CHEAP? As in a Rolls Royce is cheap compared to a Lear Jet maybe. Kiton Man, to me, smells alot cheaper than R. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
