CHANELS-Anyone notice a difference...
Question:
in the smell of the the newer glass spray falcons vs the older plastic/metal Chanel canisters? I noticed last year that the smell of my No 19 edt was different in the gray metal case than the glass spray bottle I had. I recently bought a black case with No 5 edt and it smells slightly different than the glass spray bottle I have.
The ones in the case spray very fast (almost like an aerosol), where the falcon bottles have a regular soft spray.
I am the only one that smells something chemical-like in the canister versions?

Answer:
I asked Scentemental whether he felt that Chanel have been reformulating
their scents. He felt they have been. I haven't been purchasing
fragrances for more than about three years, so I don't have a good sense
of the smell of older Chanels. I still think they are extremely fine.
Here's the thread with Scentemental's post:

Answer:
The first fragrance I owned was No. 5 in the black case. This would have been sometime in the late '80's or early '90's. Nothing (i.e., body cream, EDT, EDP) smells the same to me now in the No.5 range. I am positive they have changed the formula.
Also...I owned Coco EDT in the early '90's. I still love Coco but something has changed in this one too. I can't put my finger on it but it's different. I much preferred the "old" versions of both.
...AND I don't think it's MY nose that's causing this discrepency - I think Chanel has been tinkering with their formulas!

Answer:
If the canisters are aerosols that would make a lot of sense as you might indeed need to add a gaseous propellant. On the other hand, I have found that vintage aerosols last longer.
Not sure though.

Not sure though. I think you're 100% right! It's the faint odor of propellant...it fades quickly but it is definitely noticable at first. Thank you all for the help
