Ancient Fragrances
Question:
I'm doing some research on very old fragrance formulations, that would have been used during the time of the Old and/or New Testaments. I've found some information, but can't attest to its accuracy, so would greatly appreciate if anyone here can point me in the right direction, or offer any links. I'm especially looking for specific recipes, if any exist in written form from that time. I also posted this question on the Male Fragrance Board, so please respond to the post on that board, if you have any information to share. Link is: /showthread.php?t=194975 Thanks very much! Herb Lady Answer: I don 't think you 'll find anything interesting in connection with the old testament, you should be looking for persian culture and scents, the perfumes of Cleopatra and the importance of the arab world which invented a lot of perfume techniques after the fall of the Roman Empire when europe shut down with the dark ages. Answer: Thank you for responding! Actually, this is exactly what I mean. While I don't necessarily believe the ancient Hebrews were producing most of these fragrances themselves, I do know that they purchased or traded for them. So it's really just the time frame in that area of the world, that I'm interesting in. And especially, if there are any surviving written recipes/formulas for fragrances from 2000 to 5000 years ago, or so. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
