10 sprays of nothing........ - Page 3
Question:
Eau by Paco....never tried.
Chic.....I agree.
Samourai.....never tried.
The rest work very well with me.....Safari and Polo Crest....Wow.....10 sprays of these would be eough for 2 days.
Blue...Black...Gio and Zanzibar......some of my faves that I have no problems with at all..... These stay with me 4 to 5 hours....No problem.....
The 2 fragrances that I have problems with are Creeds Erolfa and Neroli Savauge. Silver Mountain Water and MI do not stay with me very long either.

Another one that didn't last on me was Eau de Hermes. It is amazing for exactly 1 hour and then it's gone forever.
I can not justify paying for 1 hour of pleasure, I need an all day affair.

Answer:
Don't blame it on the perfume.
It was explained to me once that the human brain is designed to "forget" odours in order not to be overloaded and to be able to smell new things.
In doubt ask people who come near you how strong your perfume is. You will be surprised. I have found myself to be odorless at times, while other people thought me a real perfume stinker.
I have taken the liberty of copying this little article from Wikipedia.
""" Olfactory fatigue or adaptation is the temporary, normal inability to distinguish a particular odor after a prolonged exposure to that airborne compound. For example, when entering a restaurant the odor of food is often perceived as being very strong, but after time the 'smell' normally fades to the point where it is not perceptible or is much weaker. After leaving the area of high odor, the sensitivity is restored with time.
It is a commonly used term in wine tasting, where one loses the ability to smell and distinguish wine bouquet after sniffing at wine(s) continuously for an extended period of time.
The term is also used in the study of indoor air quality, for example, in the perception of odors from people, tobacco, and cleaning agents.
Our bodies become desensitised to stimuli in order to prevent the over loading of our nervous system, thus allowing it to respond to new stimuli that is ‘out of the ordinary’ """
I hope this helps

Case in point - I put on Millesime Imperial this morning - nine hours ago - with two half sprays to the neck, and it's still going strong.
I think some other factors come into play, such as how active you are (exertion pumps the fragrance out but probably leads to shorter duration) and your climate - in the UK it's fairly mild most of the time, whereas in hotter climes I've found it harder to detect fragrances after a few hours - the heat has made them disappear quicker and also air conditioning affects my sense of smell too.

Answer:
Most scents have excellent longevity on my skin. If only Acqua di Parma and especially Chanel Pour Monsieur would, I'd be a happy man! Two superior fragrances that are gone within hour and a half. One time Chanel PM had incredible tenacity on me; so weird! Villoresi's Uomo then again lasts usually very well, but have dissapeared few times in an hour or so. It obviously has something to do with my skin, but I don't know what it is, since it changes so fast, within two days. I will test Chanel PM once again soon and see what's the case this time.
