I Think Frederic Malle Is Ignoring Me Or Blocked My Email Address
Question:
I just finished my 5ml sample of Musc Ravageur and finally decided to obtain a large bottle. Before doing so, I decided to ask some detailed questions regarding international shipping from FM website. I wanted to avoid any problems I might get during shipping so I decided to contact them via email.
I don't usually have its issue, because if I'm doing a transaction with an Ebayer or even with someone on the Sell/Swap forum, I can always suggest a few hints and tips to avoid problems with customs.
Thought I'm not entirely certain, FM might ship with their FM Parfum label on the box, indicate what it is specifically, instead of a more general term like "Cosmetics" used to avoid customs problem and write the full retail value of the product.
Usually to avoid problems with customs, indicating a low value is wise, checking the gift box, avoid company or business labels, and using a general term for perfumes, for example "cosmetics".
I'm not so much concerned about customs duties but the fact that Transportation Canada doesn't allow the transportation of perfumes, and if found, it will be disposed on site. The only way to get around this problem, is either but taking certain precautions that I've mentioned above, or by using a courier service that allow this. Knowing a large company won't do the above...and I didn't ask them to do so, I wanted to know their shipping procedures.
So...I contacted them with some detailed questions regarding their shipping procedures and they did answer me, thought they didn't answer all my questions. Maybe, they didn't have the proper knowledge to do so, thought I asked again, and also with their first reply email, some more questions came to mind that I wanted to ask.
Now I waited for a week to get a response, and I haven't gotten anything. I didn't receive a response so I sent an another email with a short message asking if they got my last email and I copied the questions again.
So, I don't get anything now....and decided to send another email..it's now 5 days after the previous situation. I even asked if they had difficulties answering my questions..they can indicate they couldn't, so I wouldn't be waiting for a response.
Nothing yet...and now for some odd reason, I tried to email them and I get an error message....thought if I'm not blocked by them, they are ignoring me...which sounds odd...I didn't expect to receive such customer service from Frederic Malle.
I think my questions might have been difficult to answer, but they told me they ship French Post...which if the package arrives in Canada, it will have to be transported my Canada Post...which it won't allow..this might cause problems so I wanted to get the proper info before I ordered.
Also, I aked a few questions about Canadian Online Retailers or if they had plans to have their line distriubed in a Canadian Store, thought I didn't get a response.
I decided to post this, because I've heard that Frederic Malle roams these broads...he might see my post and offer some help...maybe .

Answer:
This isn't much help, but my experience with Canadian postal service has been quite poor. I've received shipments from France in 7 days, shipments from the UK in as little as 3 days and I've been waiting for over 3 weeks for a package from Canada. I could literally have walked to the sellers doorstep by now.

Answer:
If they are willing to ship ground mail it is fine - air is a problem.
Putting a lower value on the customs form means and checking it is a gift means you won't likely get billed GST and a handling fee on it - but it is illegal for a company to lie on that form.
I doubt they ship enough full bottles to individuals in Canada to know about our specific regulations. They likely just mail it, as they did with the 5 mL samples. The pace in much of the world is slower than we are used to in the US and larger Canadian cities too, so you might come across as very impatient.
You can also order from Barney's or somewhere like that in the US and have them ship it to you (again, have them send it ground).
Last thing is... have you been checking your spam catcher? I heard many people say emails from Editions ended up in their spam folder.
Hope this helps some.

Yeah..our postal service isn't the best..hopefully it will improve in the future...I've had a package sent back home cuz customs couldn't determine what it was...it was a display piece for our New Year...they sent it back. I actually know someone that worked in Customs...they hire a lot of students for the summer.

I know..and would never tell a company to lie..thought sometimes I tell my BN buddies to avoid problems to do this..its worked all the time. BTW, it also avoids from having your package investigated. If it only costs 20 bucks they aren't going to check it contents....it's not worth it. I know some insider info from a friend.

Even if they couldn't answer my questions, a polite email would have been nice..I didn't even get that...I think I was ignored instead .

Answer:
If you get error messages they probably aren't getting your emails.
What do the error messages say?

Answer:
if you'd like to paypal me the money I could walk into barneys and mail you the MR. I'd be really happy to do to it so as to make at least one purchase there finally, I suffer sample guilt at dear Barney's...
I'm sure it'd be cheaper than having it sent from France.

Answer:
By the way, I know for sure I once asked if I can send cash in a registered letter to France, because I don't have a credit card.
The answer then was: "Yes, no problem."
Last time I was told that this payment option no longer is possible.
