Hedi Slimane leaves Dior
Question:
Article in the International Business Tribune last week, about the departure of Hedi Slimane from Dior. Not sure if this relates to Dior fragrances, but Hedi's colognes for Dior (Eau Noire, Blanche and d'Argent) are my favorite men's Dior scents... http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/03/...ness/lux.4.php Answer: I don't think that Slimane's departure would change the lineup of scents created on his watch. He did them for Dior, after all. He has made repeated mention that he will be launching his own house in the not too distant future, and I'd imagine a fragrance to be one of the first things to come out. That's where the money comes from, after all. Certainly not $500 gold lame hightops. Although those who can rock them, do so with aplomb. Answer: Yeah..I heard...thought there has been rumors since a year and a half ago about him leaving...thought I think it's for the best considering his men collection shows are getting repetitive and a little dull. I think he wanted more money...to fund his own label and a salary raise..and control of the women's division of CD...funny how he wanted more money...wasn't he traveling the world, going to parties & rock shows all on company expense. Anyways...hopefully it won't put too much damage on the Dior Homme fragrance line considering I like them...and when he gets his own label...hopefully it isn't as pricey as his Dior Homme. Answer: im depressed... why... he ruled dior..... i now need to get the 3 colognes before it disappears...!!! Answer: I think Mr. Slimane had also a lot to do with the Fahrenheit 32, debuting soon in the U.S... Fahrenheit 32 was designed by ex-Dior Homme artistic director Hedi Slimane based on an idea by François Demachy, perfumer and director of olfactory development of LVMH together with Louise Turner of Quest. Love the fresh, orange blossom, vanilla, vetiver combo! I knew Slimane's name well but simply had forgotten that he is the man behind at least two of the most wonderful, classic colognes I ever came across! The only reason I have none yet: I cannot make up my mind between Eau Noir and and d'Argent. I hope they sell well and Dior will continue having them. I also hope the new Sauvage Leather will be what the name promises. Answer: Originally Posted by narcus I cannot make up my mind between Eau Noir and and d'Argent. BOTH...or maybe even 3 as a set...just for the heck of it.... me too....im stuck on those 2 but i have decieded to buy all 3 i hope they have the new sauvage too! Answer: You shouldn't worry too much : Hedi Slimane is going to be replaced by Kriss Van Assche, who has worked hand-in-hand with him for a few years at Dior already, before he left only a couple of years ago to start his own house too. Their two styles are very close to one another, and I heard the "exclusive" Dior fragrances are doing pretty well anyway. In some way I can see their designs being similar...maybe the jackets thought both their designs are still very different and they can't really be compared. They both have very different visions and direction they want to take with Mens Fashion..thought it would be interesting to see where KVA takes Dior.
