Appreciate it! Hi, Misty--Can you see me waiving from the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan? Like the rest of us upper Midwesterners, you're probably going to have to resort to using the internet to sample many of Tovah's fabulous recommendations. Those methods being: buying samples for about $3 each from online stores, buying samples from ebay decanters, and swapping your purchased samples (even though slightly depleted) for other samples with others via basenotes' swapping forum or the one at makeupalley.com. We have a once-a-month spray-together on the first Saturday of the month. This Saturday it's all about florals. In coming months we'll be focusing on and talking about fresh, green, and aquatic scents. Hope you'll stay tuned and enjoy a long association in this happy place. Answer: Welcome to Basenotes, Misty53! Though perfumes featuring Watery and / or Marine elements are not my usual preference (In fact I profess to hate them) I do happen to know of a few: Estee Lauder Sunflowers Twice Iceberg Jesus del Pozo Duende Pascal Morabito Miss Morabito Borghese Profumo di Montecatini Il Profumo Nymphea Calvin Klein Escape Perfumer's Workshop Samba Ice Worth Sans Adieu Succès de Paris Fujiyama Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Alfred Sung Shi Calvin Klein Truth Moschino Cheap & Chic Moschino Oh! de Moschino TBS Crisp Cotton TBS Oceanus Frederic Malle Lys Méditerranée Azzaro Eau Belle Montana Blu Byblos Ghiaccio / Byblos Ice Elizabeth Arden True love Cacharel Eau de Eden Davidoff Cool Water Davidoff Cool Water Game Kenneth Cole Black Laura Biagiotti Laura Oscar de la Renta So Liz Claiborne Curve The oddest thing is (for someone who hates this type of perfume) I happen to own many of those listed... Answer: Among the fragrance junkies, "fresh and light", especially as associated with "marine and ozonic", are becoming curse words. I do not know WHY, because some of them are really nice fragrances, refreshing, long-lasting and comfortable. The effect of freshness is achieved through different means: citrus, white florals, greens, light woods and musks and their combinations. Surely, we will discuss them in-depth in the forthcoming S'n'S days, like Quarry said, so please stay tuned! To the nice lists above, may I add the following: -- Rochas Aquawoman -- nice full-bodied and rounded fragrance, get it while you can because it is getting harder and harder to come by, marine freshness without being particulary floral, citrucy or musky, it is surprisingly nice even during the cooler seasons; -- L'Eau par Kenzo -- smelling of freshness and cucumbers (I just see many people roll their eyes and gag right here! ), one of the staples of mine a decade ago, thinking of getting a small decant to revive the past; -- Byblos Mare -- for about $20 dollars for 4.2 oz bottle one can refresh it during the day as many times as need be, however one woody note in it somehow gets cloying on me and I have to be in the mood to thoroughly enjoy Mare; -- Sonia Rykiel Blue (pullover) -- citrucy floral, harsh on opening and gentle like a summer breeze during the development, but I am a fan of Sonia in general; -- my SOTD La Perla Blue -- very long-lasting and envigorating, cool and powdery due to the nicely done iris note, can be easily mistaken for the niche 10 times more expensive than it is! My apologies to the fellow fragrance lovers who can't stand "The Blues"! Answer: Originally Posted by Quarry Hi, Misty--Can you see me waiving from the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan? Hey I hope those icebergs don't reform. Blustery weather here. Chilling and numbing. Thank you for refreshing my mind about fresh fragrance. I think I will have fun at this site. Misty53 Answer: My daughter loves New West by Aramis - light, airy, non-floral marine. Mare by Creative Universe is an honest but not exactly 'fresh' marine - you can smell the salt and algae in this one more than New West. Donna by Compagnia Delle Indie has oceanic, dusty driftwood, and pale floral notes. Light and breezy. It's not exactly oceanic, but it still feels that way to me - Acqu Di Parma's Blu Mediterraneo Cipresso Di Toscana (Tuscan Cypress) - the opening is so light, blue and watery it always sticks in my mind as an oceanic. Finally, one that isn't oceanic, but worth a sample anyway - Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. The name says it all. That particular fragrance isn't always easy to find in stores, but online, I am sure I would have the opportunity! Happy Spring! Misty53 Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
