Why do they have Non-Export SL scents?
Question:
Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I've always wondered why they had a portion of their line only available for sale in Europe. Is it because they want to make their line a little more exclusive, or they don't want to come across problems with shipping outside of Europe. Or do they think there isn't a market for the non-export line in North America. Answer: Exclusivity, hype. It's gotta be good if it's only available in Europe! - Rich Answer: Originally Posted by nsamadi Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I've always wondered why they had a portion of their line only available for sale in Europe. Or do they think there isn't a market for the non-export line in North America. Good question. I'd be curious to know myself. All my favorite SL's are non-export, and it really bites that they do that. Answer: Who knows? Whatever the reason, it's ridiculous. Answer: Yeah...I hope someone into the line will be able to say something or give some info. Its been something that has been bothering me for a while, I just hate paying 200 USD for a bell jar on Ebay. Answer: Japanese also have access to the exclusive line through a website online in japanese. there s been a lot of misunderstanding...hype or authenticity? Serge Lutens has principles and he likes the idea that luxury is elitist and exclusive, he talks about distance, efforts to make etc. you should also know that Jean Patou (now owned by US Procter & Gamble) will not ship outside of France their 1000 extraits de parfum only sold in Paris!! this online link below will help you understand and appreciate more about les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido and Serge Lutens concepts, but I admit it 's frustrating for those outside europe who love exclusive scents like Iris Silver Mist or Un Lys and just can 't get it or unless they have a connection. http://www.luxuryculture.com/materia.../00/00/0000863 Answer: I love Lutens, but the exclusive range just infuriates me. One thought that I had is maybe the Exclusive fragrances are the ones that are least likely to sell outside of Europe? I'm not sure. I mean, I own a bell jar of Muscs Koublai Khan and I cannot IMAGINE anyplace in the US selling something like that. There are lots of basenoters who like it, but I can't imagine them selling it in a department store. I'm really glad that I happened to be in Civilization while Chergui was part of the export line, because I had a chance to smell it in person, adore it, and buy it. I hope that my bottle lasts me a long time. Answer: I am not the biggest fan of this house, but the Serge Lutens fragrances which I think are atleast worth a decant are the following (and are actually much more "universal" and easier to wear than their typical offerings) : Chergui Encens Et Lavande Iris Silver Mist Muscs Koublai Khan ....and maybe Borneo 1834 (50-50 on this one) They all are part of the exclusive line. Coincidence? Maybe not. Serge Lutens might be saving their best stuff for purchase at the royal palais. Henri Bendels in New York City on 5th Avenue sells 'Secretions magnifiques' by Etat Libre d 'Orange, something that 's a million times more off the wall than Muscs Koublai Khan is lol Answer: It's simple. Anti-American snobery. No more and no less. Their refusal to ship perfumes to the West is classic French behavior <snip> I know the truth hurts.
