L'Eau du Caporal by L'Artisan
Question:
If you had the chance to get this for $120....Would you? (100ml)
I have never tried but hear good things...

Answer:
Possibly. But it really is very similar to MPG's Centaure, which is cheaper and easier to find. Caporal is a bit lighter and less complex, a crisp green scent with lots of herbal mint. If you don't like vetiver or green frags, or you don't like mint, you may want to pass. If you like those, it's a good one, very much in the MPG style - more the natural, earthy, and raw style of MPG than the modern, slick, refined, semi-sweet, unisex style of newer L'Artisans.

Answer:
Personally, I don't care for Caporal. And, as pointed out, it is very similar to MPG's Centaure...because they were both created by the same person, Jean Laporte. For me, this scent was very linear and strong. In fact, it was headache inducing. I just saw a bottle of this on Ebay last week for almost nothing!
I don't think it has been in production for years so keep in mind that this will be an old bottle and probably has turned.

Answer:
I think I saw that same bottle, was watching it, some last minute ebay bidding insanity ensued, and ultimately it sold for about $150, if memory serves. I gave up on it around the $60 mark.

Answer:
I don't go for Caporal. I've got a good size sample and I've given it at least four wearings and plenty of back of the hand tests. I'm an herbs, grass, and vetiver lover, but this blend does nothing for me. It smells like a citrus and vinegar potion to me, even though a good friend of mine on this board (who loves it) was embarrassed for me that I thought it smelled like vinegar.
Rj, you might like it, as I'm sure you know, but if I were in your shoes I'd know that you've got dozens of potions you'd rather wear after the pleasure of the new thing (Caporal) wears off. The dollar figure you mention seems high too.
Hope I'm wrong though, all and best pleasure of the scent hunt to you!

Answer:
It's the best mint scent I've tried. I agree with some the comments above (strong, green, linear).
I like it but I wouldn't pay $120 for a bottle.

Answer:
I own a decant and I personally wouldn't buy a bottle for normal retail price. Have a look at the new Gendarme Green instead. It was a surprise in a good way for me. Having tested Gendarme 20 and Gendarme Green side by side, Gendarme Green was my favourite by a mile.
