luca turin, musk
Question:
There is apparently a new book out by Luca Turin, as of December 06, by the name of MUSK. ISBN 0571215378. This went by me completely. Does anyone have any information on this? edit: OK, forget it, an error in abebooks I guess Answer: Haven't heard of it so far, but the description surely sounds like an interesting read! http://enjoyment.independent.co.uk/b...icle623344.ece Btw, the_good_life, what a cute baby, I guess it's yours! Answer: Err, no, actually I steal babies and sell them to childless couples. How do you think I can afford all these perfumes? Just kidding, Emily Rose is all ours I have ordered the Emperor of Scent. But it was also listed in abebooks under the title MUSK, so I thought he had put out another one. There is supposed to be an older perfume guide in French or Italian by Turin, I believe, but I've never come across it. Mais mon francais sucks anyway . It was probably listed in the "Musk Read" section.. Answer: Originally Posted by kbe It was probably listed in the "Musk Read" section.. hey man thats pretty funny Answer: Flexitral, the fragrance/flavour chemical company Luca Turin works for, publishes the 1994 edition of his Parfums: Le Guide (now out of print) as a pdf. You can find it at http://www.flexitral.com/research/Guide%201994.pdf. It's a great piece of writing. Luca's vanished blog is also published by Flexitral as a pdf at http://www.flexitral.com/research/Blogtextweb.pdf for those who missed it. It's well worth a read, and some of the content from le Guide was used there in English. Answer: hey thanks, i was only aware of the blog. so this thread went somewhere after all Answer: In his guide, that's what mr. Turin says about Platinum Égoiste (translated by myself, sorry): - Égoiste is also available in Platinum version, more intense and conventional than the original. I ask myself if he actually had smelled Platinum Égoiste at that time. Also, he seems to prefer male fragrances on women! (he does it with Vetiver Guerlain, Yatagan, Fahrenheit, and seems to do it with Kouros also) Considering he is far more generous with Cool Water than with Azzaro Pour Homme, I don't think our tastes match, no matter if he's known as an expert. Basenotes directory's reviews are far better, IMHO. Anyway, thanks for posting the guide. Answer: I can't forgive him for his thrashing of Cacharel ph. What was he smelling anyway? Well, even the most informed opinion on perfume remains an opinion... Answer: Musk was the original working title of his book now called The Secret of Scent. here is the link to it on UK Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Secret-Scent...5448697&sr=8-1 He does have a new perfume guide coming out next year. Here is the official website for the new book. http://perfumestheguide.com/index.html Barry Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
