Hey guys.
I'm pretty new to colognes/scents all this... I looked around a month ago and decided to get XS Pour Homme after various positive reviews and the burst of freshness with the musky drydown seemed to appeal to my tastes. I bought it:

and I was pretty satisfied. Until... I realized that it only lasted around an hour before it died out pretty much, and nobody outside of me could really smell it, probably due to it's bad sillage. Is XS Pour Homme known for bad sillage/longevity? The sillage is great when first sprayed but then quickly disappears. Even though the ebay link seems to be from a reputable seller, maybe the spray wasn't authentic... providing for the quick, shortlived scent. It isn't the most expensive scent, but I thought the positive reviews might've indicated that the price tag wouldn't be a shortcoming to the cologne... I've sprayed XS Pour Homme at least 5 times around my body/clothes/all the 'hot spots' and still don't get that longevity which I've been looking for
I am looking for an alternative scent... something a little less powerful then the introductory citrus bursts of the XS, but with the same warm musky drydown. Maybe an aquatic smell would do... Looking for an all-around smell, something I can wear around school / work / anywhere and be comfortable with it and wouldn't cause headaches around me. - Longevity must be a must while moderate sillage would be great. My price range isn't crazy- less than 80 preferably- and I've been looking at Creed, especially the aquatic ones .. really want something more unique, not one that's mainstream and of course what the ladies will love

and I know I should test out the various colognes but I don't have the time or energy to really spend testing one after another for weeks.. would prefer buying blind

You might want to consider looking into these, seem to be in your price range and they all seem to have that fresh/wood mix you might be looking more...and they seem to be unique.

If you like XS, and you want to try out a Creed...I'd go w/ Himalaya. I've never smelled XS but people say that those two smell a good deal alike. And even if they don't smell the same, Himalaya smells REALLY good anyway .

any advice on maybe lengthening the longevity of the cologne? I mean its very strange... I spray 5-6 times and it still goes away relatively quickly..

try spaying on clothing...
or hair...
i dont usually do more than 4 sprays...last night 4 hours after spraying le male twice on the chest area of my clothing a lady friend said she could smell me...eventho i couldnt pick up the scent unless i put my nose right to my shirt....
btw...she didnt dig the le male

rub yo self with unscented jojoba or seaseme body oil on the places where you will apply cologne. apply the oil after a shower, then apply the cologne just before you head out.
