Does anyone actually like Fahrenheit?
Question:
I'd like to ask Joel Cairo's question of Fahrenheit.
I got this as a gift and have tried several times (over the period of a year) to wear it. I swear that all I get from it is the faint smell of motor oil. It is the trace of the smell that I used to get when I changed the oil on my motor bike. And nothing else. And the motor oil smell doesn't even last! — it has gone in half an hour.
And yet I know that Luca Turin has praised this scent — though I don't know the reason. I note that it is rarely ever mentioned here, and I can see only one person who has it among their favourites.
So what is the deal here? Have they changed the formulation from something that once was good. Or is there more to the present juice that I'm not picking up (I don't rule that out — I think my sense of smell is by no means the equal of many here.)
Perplexed.

Answer:
Well i always used to ask myself...HOW CAN ANYONE LIKE FAHRENHEIT...it just beat me...WHY would anyone want to smell of MOTOR OIL...I too just picked up the 'motor oil' note from this one...yet surprisingly a few friends who are barely into perfumes liked this one...made it even harder for me to interpret...i guess i cant pick up notes in this one that others can...

Answer:
This was my dad's fragrance in the 80's...He was a hot tar roofer and I think that this was a completely logical fit! Cologne for the guy that works hard and kicks ass on the job, and is not afraid to get dirty.
I bought a bottle of this from meijer's, but ended up returning it because it was just about unwearable for me. I want to give it another shot, but I think I'm going to go after a mini-bottle of this.
This is cologne for Motley Crue, a mechanic, an artist, a lumberjack, a criminal, Pantera, Just EXTREME people in general!
(any Crue fans?)

Answer:
I like Fahrenheit, I find that if I use small prays moved over a large area the petroleum note is minimised, the hawthorn come through which stays into the base notes creating a nice green frag. Not one I wear too often but when I`m in the mood for something green Fahrenheit is perfect.

Answer:
I like this one quite a bit, actually one of the first ones I really did like!
It seems to be odd in that it smells great on some people but on others the chemistry is just wrong and it can be ineffective or even unpleasant. I've been somewhat curious to try some of the seasonal or limited edition variations...

Answer:
Oddly enough, I've never picked up on the much discussed "petroleum note" -- same as with the dreaded "pee-pee note" in Kouros. I suppose it's a matter of body chemistry, or perhaps I have a dreadfully unsophisticated nose -- I dunno.
I find Fahrenheit deep and warm and complex, and one of the best buys (dollar for dollar) on the general market. I hope they never discontinue this gem -- it's one of the house's best.

Answer:
Fahrenheit is an absolutely lovely scent.. To me, it's the 'manliest' scent you can get without travelling into the heady realms of a 'traditionally manly' musk overload.
I must say that out of all the smellies that I've owned, Fahrenheit is the one which has elicited the most compliments bar none.

Answer:
I think I like it. Very sexy and masculine.

Answer:
I like the motor oil smell in this more than the make-up kit smell in Dior Homme.

Answer:
I used to wear it a lot when I first got it. I had quite a few compliments with it, but I stopped wearing it because it seemed too played out. I had a friend who, back in 1990, wore this stuff exclusively. His older sister hated it . She said it smelled like ...."wet burning leaves".
I have about 1/3 of a bottle left. I was going to pitch it into the trash, but I figured I might want to wear it again......someday.
