I promise myself all the time that I will not purchase "unsniffed", again. Which one(s) did you luck out on & is a keeper, which one did you receive, and go, "blech, why did I buy this"?

Caron Infini. Not all the Carons work well on me, and I found it way too aldehydic to manage on my skin. Fortunately, everything from that house works beautifully on my mother, and she gave me a bottle of Annick Goutal Rose Absolue that *she* wasn't getting on with in return, so I think I did quite well out of the transaction!

Youth Dew. The ingredients made it sound great, but it turned horribly soapy on my skin. Darned aldehydes. *shakes fist*
I haven't made any more blind purchases since then.

Ghost Serenity was bought unsniffed because I got it mixed up with Cherish and bought the wrong one. Gave it away in the end to someone who liked it a lot better than I did. Costume National Scent was also bought unsniffed but I do like this one even though I don't use it very often.
A few have been bought on one sniff, quickly followed by "omg I have to have this" then later "what was I thinking". Annick Goutal Songes is one of those scents.

Another stinker which ended up in the trash was Les Nereides scent called Fleurs Poudree de Musc.
Egads!! The Perfume Gods really smited me with that blind buy.

Thanks to swapping, there are no true "big mistakes" .
After a few start-up blind-buy mistakes, I grew very disciplined about sampling before buying, but last year I made one exception, and that resulted in my finding perhaps my favorite frag of the 400+ I've smelled: Hermes Ambre Narguile. The reviews sounded exactly like what I was looking for, so I bought an expensive (for me--$40) 15ml mini bottle on ebay.
