Let's Talk Violet - Page 2
Question:
I'm wearing a perfume based on violets that I concocted recently! Other than that, I very much like Apres l'Ondee and Kenzo Flower le Parfum for violets. Answer: I believe Diane Von Furstenberg's Volcan D'Amour is a strong sultry violet...the ads for this one were moonlight oriented. Not a sugary, shy shrinking violet as I recall. I'm a fan of Apres L'ondee and Jolie Madame. Answer: I recently it tried Ava Luxe Midnight Violet and let me say it is to die for! I see a nice big fat bottle in my near future! It's spicey, woody violet....yum yum! Answer: I love Meteorites, as well. Also Paris, which is roses and violets. I was surprised about Violet Precieuse because I love violets and I love the Caron house - have never smelled anything I didn't like from them. That's why I bought unsniffed from Fragrance.net. VP is sort of OK but I was very surprised by that "celery" smell and I still don't know if I have a bad bottle!!!! Also love Apres l'Ondee although haven't had a bottle for awhile. Answer: Love violets here too, got quite a few in my Wardrobe: any form, color or shape, as long as they are sweet, earthy and purple/lavender! Violettes de Toulouse is now available in EdP form together with accompaning bath products (soap also spotted last year at Marshall's, who would have thought?), so there is no question about its longevity -- you can make it as long as you want! What I like about this scent is its uncomplicated refinement and fragility, and also its delectable raspberry note in the middle. The whole impression is tender, soft and warm, the packaging is A+ (Fifi C. had to have an example to follow, did not she? ) with an option for either, dabbers or sprayers. One other violet worth mentioning is Mystere de Rochas, if one can find it! Totally rewarding experience. Answer: I love violets (especially the dark, velvety ones) and their smell but in most cases violets as a note spell trouble for me. Happily there are some exceptions like Après l'Ondée, Jolie Madame, Le Parfum de Thérèse, N'Aimez Que Moi, and Ormonde. Answer: Violets and iris are far and away my favourite floral notes. I'm actually a little surprised glancing through my collection how well represented violets are, especially given the 'old lady' reputation they have with some people! I particularly love the way Guerlain deals with violets. Apres l'Ondee is glorious (especially in the parfum concentration), and I've a terrible fondness for Meteorites. (That said, I really didn't get on with Insolence - the berry note ruined it for me.) I've bought a bottle of Guet Apens on eBay (should be on its way at the moment) - I had a sample a while back and the violets in it were so beautiful they nearly made me fall over and weep. Borsari Violetta di Parma is my favourite violet soliflore (I also have Penhaligons Violetta, which is very pretty but a little...harsher.) I'm also a sucker for the violet soaps and bubble bath from Lush, which aren't very complex or *terribly* good, but they're good enough! Answer: I hate violets! They remind me of hated trips "oop north" to see my relatives and those disgusting parma violet sweets you could get when I was a kid. Yuck yuck yuck! *shudders* Life would be boring if we all liked the same thing though, eh? And this thread is useful for me in finding out what to avoid! (Nb, Bond Broadway Nites has violet, of course!) Answer: Originally Posted by fiori I'm wearing a perfume based on violets that I concocted recently! Ooooh fiori. How did you make it?
