Basenotes in Terre d' Hermes & Polo Blue?
Question:
Can you pro's help me with an ingredient that i've smelled in both Polo Blue AND T.D. Hermes?
I tried T.D.Hermes yesterday and man' o' man...it's good to wait for the drydown basenote! I did not like it at all, I smelled a basenote that I smelled in Polo Blue in T.D. Hermes!
You guys know what drydown basenote is in both? I have to stay away from those basenotes definately. More "Metallic" scents I think are good IMHO.
Thanks for the help guys.
Gonna try Herrera today from my sample viles, smells nice so far.

Answer:
On the Polo Blue notes thing in the directory it says basil, but I'm sure it's not all-inclusive. I just got Polo Blue -- like it! I know you're not a fan...;-)

Answer:
Man'....I tried all of the following samples and IMHO they smelled horrendous..lol..
Vetiver Guerlien, Terre D' hermes, M7, Versace man, Emporio, Chrome, and not too fond of Polo double Black actually.
I find that in P.D. Black's drydown smells a bit like PI by Givenchy. It took me a while to finally remember what it smelled like but I finally remembered PI.
Vetiver Guerlien was B.A.D BAD..lol. and M7 smelled like incense. Terre d' Hermes was bad as well. I found Versace Man a bit femalish, it's drydown was nice but you could smell more of a female edge to it.
Emporio IMHO is boring. The Emorio's I find arent too different from one another with the exception of Aqua Di Gio.
Actually the scents I liked were POLO SPORT, never owned it and it's nice, and Herrera was nice too, that blend of citrus tobacco and the other notes gives it a sweet (Maple-y scent). I tried the Bvlgari Extreme and it smelled like detergent of some sort, that aftersmell was dead on laundry detergent smell...lol...I know...I'm nuts.
I tell you guys I cant wait to hit Roosevelt Field this Monday coming up and try all the Creed lines as well as Hugh Pasons line and possibly some of the pheromone colognes as well.
Now that I know what I DONT like the next time I get another 10 samples for 30 bucks it'll be worth the money...lol
Can you guys help? I guess my tendencies towards cologne seem to go to fresh clean light scents? More Metallics? I would like to try Allure Sport from Chanel as well, heard some good things about it. I HATE florals and talcum powdery scents.
Much Thanks guys. Cant wait till Monday...any other good colognes to try??

Answer:
Well, I don't know anyone who doesn't like Allure Sport, so I think you'll be pleased.
Didn't like the Bvlgari Extreme, huh? Man, that is one of my top 5, as is Bvlgari PH...sharp fresh citrus...almost like grapefruit.
Ya know, it's funny, I was convinced I would like Guerlain Vetiver based on the rave reviews, so I got a sample from Scentmonkey. Hmmmm, same reaction as yours...I was cleaning (another) spot of cat puke (will kill this animal) with the best carpet spot cleaner on the market: Spot Shot. Guess what fellas....? Guerlain Vetiver is Spot Shot....Paul Harvey probably likes it, he's pitched the latter enough...;-)
That said, Squire, I'm beginning to think you have some pretty exclusive tastes!

Answer:
Well, I tell you Duncan, I put on Bvlgari Extreme (sample vile) on last night and went to dinner and I actually kind of like it! It smells different to me maybe thats why. I'm more of the Metallic vanilla-ish clean scents and I wasn't used to the drydown of Bvlgari Extreme, but I like it.
That and Polo Sport has that after smell like clean soapy that I like. I mwould buy a small bottle of Bvlgari Ex.
yea bro, I tried all those I mentioned and Yuk!!! That old school musky 1950's cologne smells like shit..lol pardon my Francaise..lol.
I am fond of right now POLO Sport, Herrera for men, Bvlgari extreme and Boss selection so far...thats about it.
