Isfarkand
Question:
i am thinking of getting isfarkand by ormonde jayne for summer. any thoughts? Answer: yes get Terre d' Hermes instead. Someone said that Isfarkand is a lot like TdH so might as well get the real thing. Answer: I'd recommend it. I bought a bottle in February and was very slightly underwelmed by it. I tried it more recently in warmer weather and my doubts were gone. It is woody but spicy and light (sillage is subtle but the lengevity is great) - I was surprised at how much better it was in the warmer weather and look forward to regular rotation in the summer. Edit - BTW I don't that see much overlap with TdH (citrussy, sour and earthy) with Isfarkand (citrussy, spicy and woody), IMHO of course. Answer: Originally Posted by michaeld39 I'd recommend it. Although I was never underwhelmed, I loved it right from the start. And there is no similarity to TdH that I can detect. And Isfarkand came before TdH. Isfarkand was released before Terre d' Hermès y'know I'm halfway down a bottle of it, and my opinions pretty much echo those of Michaeld39; it's definitely a warm weather scent. My experience has been that both sillage and longevity are very good [it's an EdP], and overall I find it a lively fragrance, insomuch that it makes me feel more... vibrant, I suppose, when wearing it - full of vim, pep and all those other Victorian three-letter words. Cedar figures rather strongly in this fragrance; more than once I've been put in mind of something akin to pencil shavings, or a pencil case. If that makes sense. Similarities with TdH? My memories of sampling Hermès' latest are hazy now, but I do seem to remember observing a shared 'fizzy' pink pepper element in the middle notes, and reaching the conclusion that seeing as I already had Isfarkand, I needn't purchase TdH. Hardly 'smellalikes', however. It never gets commented on by those around me, though, which I'm at a loss to understand. Answer: Try a decant sample first. I thought I would like it based on the notes and reviews. Got 2 different samples and thought it was garbage. The only way to know is to sample on your skin. Never buy any fragrance without smelling on yourself. Answer: Buy it. I got a sample of Isfarkand a while ago and I wanted to save it for when the weather got warmer because it just didnt seem like a winter scent. I took it with me on a business trip a few weeks ago to Dallas, and it was PERFECT in the 80 degree weather. I dont see any similarities with TdH either. It's warming up in NY now, so I 'll have to break it out again. Thanks for reminding me ! Answer: Where is genuineimitationlife? He always had good things to say about this one, seeing this thread made me realise I've not seen him about for a while ? I hate it when people leave without saying goodbye. Paging Croyden....... Answer: I'm surprised by the people who have said there is absolutely no similarity. They two scents, at least to me, clearly share some elements in the top notes. After that though they go there separate ways. Definately independent scents albeit with some similarities. Isfarkand to me is underwhelming but pleasant. Answer: I don't find the two to be so similar. They have some kind of common character, but while TdH is warm and has a balsamic, resinous touch, Isfarkand is lighter (but lasting for hours) and spicier. The drydown of Isfarkand is just gorgeous: vetiver, woods, spices. Never cloying, but noticeable for a long time. The first time I've tried it I found it to be nice, but a bit simple... but after some more wearings I got totally addicted to it. It's the best green vetiver I know. I'm through my first full bottle now and definitely will buy another one for summer. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
