I really like Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum and Royall. Stay away from the stuff they sell at Sally's Beauty Supply. It was so bad I mentally repressed the brand name. In a previous thread many said Meehan's was top-notch but I've never tried it.

Goes on a little bitter and then mellows out.

Long lasting (for a bay rum) and great smelling! Unfortunately, the discontinued Burt's Bees Bay Rum Cologne has been tagged as a 'wanted item' and the selling price has risen accordingly. You might find it at a mom-and-pop drug store or the like, still priced normal retail, but an aftermarket purchase? Break the piggy bank for this one.

I am still partial to the old fashioned real deal... St. John's Bay Rum (http://www.stjohnsbayrum.com/index.php) it is the old original that I remember my parents giving me a bottle of as a pre-teen. A GREAT lightweight summer scent.

Following a Basenoter's recommendation, I bought my father a bottle of Meehan's around the holidays plus a tin of the hand balm. It seems to have good lasting power and Dad enjoys it.

I think Bath & Body has a good Bay Rum. I'm not certian about price.
