Strong(er) sandalwood frags - Page 3
Question:
Caswell-Massey's Tricorn is a sandalwood sillage monster. You walk in a room and the room soon smells like sandalwood. It lasts forever, it's inexpensive and quite a lovely fragrance.

Exactly what I was thinking, Scentemental. You put it down exactly. Sandalwood while being extremely - and I do mean extremely - long lasting - has very low diffusivity. I sometimes spray Art of Shaving Sandalwood on my bedclothes and have the smell last more than 2 weeks. Tam Dao similarly, dies down to almost nothing after just 2 hours - but stays at that almost nothing point almost forever. This is exactly why most typical sandalwood fragrances use the heft of more diffusive materials to carry through. For example, sandalwood carries No.19, but you wouldn't know it - because its job is just that - to carry a smell forever, while staying understated and beautiful in the background.

Answer:
You may want to take a look at "Art of Shaving" Sandalwood. The down side is that it is not a sandalwood dominated fragrance. The top notes are dominated by eucalyptus and the middle notes by pine and you only get sandalwood in the basenotes and even then it is just not that strong, but I really enjoy it. You will have a hard time finding it at a discount unfortunately. Even on Ebay after you will not find it that much less.

Answer:
The most powerful sandalwood essence that I have smelled is in Creed Bois De Santal... it starts off strong, but shortly thereafter the sillage is cut in half. It stays close to skin but lasts for a good 8-9 hours. Unlike many others (AOS Sandalwood, Santal De Mysore, Tam Dao, etc) this one is dominated by sandalwood.
