Well, my b/f has NEVER given me a positive reaction to ANYTHING I've ever worn. Ever.
That said, I never spray enough perfume on to really leave a sillage. So no one's ever commented positively OR negatively.

I was all excited about my new bottle of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir I'd picked up in London. I got back to school and one of the British exchange students said, "Wow, someone really overdid it on the aftershave." I was very embarrassed, as I was still quite new to fragrances at the time. I asked some American women and they said it smelled very manly. Well, I still wear it, but that's one of the potent ones. And just the other day it was "Are you wearing something that smells like baby powder? Not in a bad way..." (It was...L'Heure Bleue perfume.)

Only one about 10 years ago Coco chanel I was told I smelt like damp washing that had been left over night in the washing machine , took me 30 seconds to go scrub it off never wore it again but it smells fab on everyone else

I drove my daughter to the airport last winter and sprayed on Voluspa Verveine Olive Leaf before picking her up. I like its soapy character, but thought it was too light so triple-sprayed. Everyone in the car was sniffing and avoiding the subject of my fragrance all the way to the airport. On getting out of the car, my daughter finally made a comment about how strong it was before dashing to the door.
It really was pretty bad.
