Seriously, which are THE best DESIGNER fragrances ? - Page 4
Question:
My top three are:
Bvlgari Black
Gucci PH
Fahrenheit

Answer:
Hi again all,
Firstly, THANK YOU all for the warm welcome back to Basenotes!
WOW! I am STUNNED by all the WONDERFUL suggestions and responses to my post! I am going to take my time and carefully look over EACH and EVERY suggestion! Oooh, forgive me if I used the term DESIGNER fragrance too loosely. Truthfully, I DO NOT care too much weather or not the fragrance is DESIGNER, NICHE or other ? I tend to think of DESIGNER fragrances being
LESS expensive than NICHE fragrances, hence my use of the term DESIGNER. I own several fragrances from both camps (as well as other)
i.e. Attars, etc. I would have to agree that FLORIS and GUERLAIN are not what one might consider DESIGNER fragrances. In fact, BOTH of these house are PERFECT examples of OUTSTANDING fragrance that can be bought
(in some case) VERY VERY INexpensively! At least once a year, I receive a mailing from FLORIS in which I can buy a large bottle of (in my case)
FLORIS JF (no box) for $35.00 a bottle! As far as GUERLAIN, heck, I bought TWO bottles of HERITAGE at TJ MAXX (a couple of years ago) for $19.95 a bottle! Man, I LOVE it when I can find FANTASTIC fragrances at this kind of cost! At this point, I am leaning towards VC&A ph (for Summer).
Of course I will buy a new bottle of CREED TABAROM MILLESIME
(still my overall FAVORITE fragrance) and I hope to buy a bottle of
MONTALE CUIR D'ARABIE OUD for Fall. On the LESS expensive side, I am also thinking that GENTLEMAN GIVENCHY would fit my needs for PATCHOULI.
I still have enough (thank God) of SMN ACQUA DI CUBA for my Tobacco fix.
Any COFFEE suggestion ?
Regards,
SixCats!

SixCats,
The way in which SOME members welcome you back made ME think you've been away for MONTHS. When I looked at your post HISTORY, I was surprised to see your last ACTIVITY was on February 19th, 2007! Definitely NOT a long time, at least in MY book. But, a very WARM WELCOME BACK anyway.
MY picks are:
Polo (original)
Dolce & Gabbana PH
Eau Sauvage

Hi Shiver,
Well, that is rather surprising to me as well! Perhaps I did dropped by in Feb. for a brief visit/post, I don't recall. I use to post a LOT and often in the past years but, I've kinda been MIA for some time due to a host of reasons. At any rate, it's good to be back and I hope to post a bit more often again.
Recently, I have been spending a LOT of time with my other hobby of collecting VINTAGE AUDIO gear.
Regards,
SixCats!

Cool hobby (I hope you've been trying new scents as well during this short time you were away ). Forgot to mention in my post above: I detected a coffee note in A*Men, so you could probably try it.
I can clearly see that you're a long standing member in this community. As a newbie here, I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your posts.
Cheers

Hey, don't forget the Ungaros. I know, I know, Ungaros I and II are discontinued, but both have lots of fans, and Ungaro II at least is still available at great prices. Talk about a "heavy hitter"!
