Perfume and diets!
Question:
I've always had a very sweet tooth and I do enjoy the more gourmand scents such as Angel, Hypnotic Poison and my latest sugar fest, Miel de Bois.
I just wondered if any ladies here found using gourmands helped keep their sweet cravings in check, or whether they made them worse!
I'm on a mission to get in shape for summer (I've always been heavily into fitness but my diet has let me down in the past) so I've been keeping off the sweets and puddings and starchy carbs, successfully so far, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot, so to speak!

Answer:
Hi Indisceet. There certainly seems to be a difference in opinion on this one. I myself have been on a diet and that last ten is like rock solid, like, I'm not budging. Anyway, I like to wear a gourmand scent very much. It helps me feel "not so left out". If I can't eat it, I can at least wear it. It helps me. I know a lot of people disagree, but this is just me and a whole lot of almond, carmel, vanilla, fruit, cream & chocolate.

Answer:
I don't think most gourmand scents are going to tempt the wearer to break her diet. (They might be an excuse for breaking the diet, but that's not quite the same.)
Anyway, I think the best way to think about perfume and diets is: put a couple of wonderful fragrances on your wishlist, and then reward yourself when you reach each of your dieting goals.
Best of luck with your regimen!

Answer:
I don't enjoy gourmand scents, but I do have some scented candles that smell like cookies...so every time I burn them, I crave something sweet! So I would imagine gourmand scents would have the same effect on me.

Answer:
Like Danae said - you're gonna get a lot of different reactions on this one! But no matter what, I'm sure all of us who have spent a lifetime see-sawing between three different wardrobes, (my daughter-in-law claims four!!) will be rooting for you!
I just got into gournamds since joining BN a scant six months ago - lovin' them chocolates and vanillas and coffees and...and...(runs out for tiramisu and mochachino)

Answer:
Foody dessert scents get my mind desserts. That's an unfortunate place for my mind to be.
Anything powdery makes it difficult to eat at all. Who eats J&J or fabric softener?
I should wear Heaven Scent all summer.

Answer:
I have a "vanilla cream" scented candle and without fail, whenever I smell it I want to eat desserts! However, perhaps the effects of gourmand fragrances might be lessened by the other notes that are blended into them - florals and notes like patchouli or ylang-ylang would probably make you less inclined to want food....

Answer:
I'm sure it's different for everyone, but if it helps you, and you're really having a sweet tooth, I'd say try Origins Cocoa Therapy body butter. Smells just like tootsie rolls. When wearing either that or Tutti Dolce Creme Brulee cream, I don't usually eat anything sweet!
Interesting thread, BTW.

Answer:
As soon as i put on Hypnotic Poison i want Cantucci, as soon as i put on Angel i want dark chocolate and honey, as soon as i put on any vanilla i want pudding, fruit salad with vanilla sauce and and cookies.
So don't generalize....

Answer:
Heh heh interesting answers here. Actually, after wearing CSP Vanille Mokha yesterday, I had no problems with cravings. But then I generally get the carb cravings worst during PMS so that test is yet to come.
