Aramis, which one is the best? - Page 2
Question:
I've only tried the original and I like it very much. I need to put the others on my list of frags to try.

Answer:
My Aramis List...
1) Havana (hands down winner)
2) JHL
3) Devin
4) Tuscany
5)New West
6) Original

Answer:
Havana is my favorite Aramis and it is nearing my all time top ten list.

Answer:
It is not really fair to compare some of these--Tuscany was the first Aramis scent developed in Europe--before then, all of their fragrances had a definite Estee Lauder stamp on them (big, brash and rather obvious--although I have a secret fondness for Devin). I often think that Lauder scents are really designed for people who do not know much about fragrance beyond a desire to smell good--and strong. However, Tuscany is excellent, as are some of the subsequent fragrances like Havana.

Answer:
Havana is an absolutely incredible scent. It is vibrant, full, and big, and I have never regretted wearing it. If you can find a bottle, pick it up.
I received 900 as a gift this winter. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite. Like a somber, dusty rose found kept between the pages of a tome from the early 1900s. Not exactly a lively party scent. Whereas it did have its merits, I couldn't think of any situation where I might actually wear it. Maybe court?
Of what I have tried:
1) Havana
2) Tuscany
3) Aramis
7) 900

Answer:
Besides Tuscany, I like JHL and the Original Aramis. Never had a chance to sample Havana, unfortunately.

Answer:
I find each of them to be so different than the others, saying which Aramis is
best is just not possible.

JHL is an amazing classic fragrance; to me, it's pretty much perfect. It's almost always what I use for important business meetings, presentations, days when I need to be authoritative or in the spotlight. Havana gets nearly as much praise from other people here (I haven't tried that one, but should).
My 2nd favorite, Surface, couldn't really even compare to JHL. They're more like complete opposites. Surface is relatively light and exceptionally fresh, a somewhat simple cucumber/melon/mint cologne that's exactly what I like for the terribly hot summers here. And it's surprising long-lasting for an EDC.

Answer:
Definitely a toss-up between JHL and Havana. Either one is top drawer, but it depends on the temp, your mood, the occasion, etc. I'm puzzled when I see Havana routinely described as a "formal" scent...I don't get that at all--to me it's totally appropriate for a nice restuarant or waxing your car, where JHL most definitely is formal and old school, though hardly dated. It's the best "booze" fragrance since Escada.
"Life" was a rare misstep for this underrated house. Totally bland and uninspiring. Devin is like an acid bath.
While we are talking Aramis, any input on the original and "Gold" would be appreciated...some say Gold is stronger while others think it's weaker. I own and enjoy both but really can't tell a whole hell of a lot of difference, either in smell or strength. Gold has a crazy cool bottle, though...it'll definitely "stand out" in your wardrobe!
Gold is totally ignored overlooked and rarely discussed, and I'm wondering why. For instance, in this Aramis thread, it's not even mentioned. Only one review here. Is it because Gold is too similar to the original to merit attention?

Will probably never try it but any feedback on it would be interesting

Answer:
I love Devin, does Aramis still make Devin in the U.S? I also like the Aramis Original in the splash bottle just for old time sake.
