Floral fragrances for men - Page 4
Question:
Le Labo's Rose 31, while spicey, is ultimately rather boring and really quite fake. If you want a breathtaking, artificial rose my suggestion is Iquitos by Alain Delon. It's a wicked nightmare of a rose. So sad that it's been discontinued, so get it while you can. Answer: Has nobody mentioned Versace The Dreamer yet? It has a hell of an iris note. The iris and the tobacco smell very alive in it. Answer: The Original Alfred Dunhill 1934 Amazing combination of florals with a leather base. What Bandit tries to be in women's frags. (but imho bombs) I'd wear the '34 more often but it's a formal 'suit and tie' scent, and most of the time the temperature in S. Cal is only a couple of degrees north of Hades. Oh, yes--it's also been discontinued, and I don't to waste the juice. Man, you know you're addicted when you want a good men's floral and reach for Egoiste for those less important occasions! May the weather be mild where you live, May the breeze be at your back, And may you find a reasonably priced bottle of the '34 on ebay. Cheers, Mario. Answer: much of those ones looks to me quite appealing but are the easy to fin on the european market? Answer: Try : Amouage "Gold Men" : too many flowers ; nice but not for me... or "Habanita" from Molinard : jasmine, rose, ylang ylang... + incense, amber, patchouli...it was originally designed for Men in the 20's but it's nowadays marketed for women. Absolutely wearable for men. Guerlain has been EXTREMELY influenced by Habanita when he created 'Habit Rouge for men' in the 60's; it's similar but in a different way I'd say... maybe 'cose the HR fragrance is lighter). Habanita is stronger, much more radical and complex than HR. It is also said to be one of the most powerfull and long lasting known perfumes (it is incredible how it stays on your skin : sooo economic !). Should you buy Habanita, be extremely light when you spray (!) or you will smell like a drag queen (so much more concentrated than Habit Rouge ) ! Answer: Here are the ones I tend to wear... Lauder for Men (floral melange) Acqua di Parma - Colonia (Rose + citrus) Fahrenheit (Violet, Honeysuckle - emphasis on the honeysuckle which gives it the "petrol" note) and its cousin Green Valley [these you will either love or hate so try first] Worth PH (carnation) Tabac Classic (carnation whollop and dirt cheap, I love it but some find it synthetic. It does not come across as a clove+rose geranium approximation of carnation to me. It would be OK to get blind because it is so inexpensive.) Grey Flannel (Violet madness, but the sandalwood manages to make this a pretty interesting scent if you have patience for the trip) Please do not bother with explaining that violet notes come from the leaf, etc, etc. :H K Answer: I didn't realize that alot of men's fragrance had much floral in them, but I guess, if mixed with spices & incense, they would be good. I guess MICHAEL by Michael Kors, which my son wears, has floral in it, (either tuberose or gardenia, not sure) but has patchouli & some tobacco, & other things mixed in to make it interesting.
