Pomegranate Noir
Question:
Has anyone else tried this? It quite intense. I think it's the longest lasting thing I have. Not just long lasting, but strong lasting. The opening is insane, almost horrifying, alot of patchouli and frankincense, with a very broad and loud sillage. It's a very "high pitched" sillage, sparks and needles, but you let it blend in with your skin and the cacphonic notes fade away, and the sillage calms down, leaving this deep, dark plum, raspberry and pomegranate which hangs closer to the skin. It starts off too girly, and ends up quite manly in a dark coloured fruity kind of way... It's kind of like Darth Vader but if his costume was made of purple velvet. I bet Dr. Strange smells like this. I can't tell if it works on me yet. There's an old thread on it here as well: /showt...ht=pomegranate I amagine there more on it in the women's section. Answer: I am a big fan of Pomegranate Noir, but believe the name is not representative to this frag at all. I find it to be quite masculine, spicy...with sort of a dusty, hazy feeling to it. The hint of fruit stays throughout the evolution. On my skin at least, this has alot of sillage and longevity. Women that review this scent as though it was expected to be a typical Jo Malone are let down. They always comment on it's masculine, cologne-like drydown. Perfect for a guy, not so much for a woman IMHO. In my top 10. Maybe a distant, dusty, hazy cousin to CDG - Sequoia, and L'Artisan - VDR. Answer: It's threads such as these that keep my nose smiling and my bank account weeping. I've always been a fan of pomegranate, both the scent as well as the fruit itself. I don't own and haven't tried any fragrances that feature it as a note and this sounds like it deserves a spot amongst my "must try" list. Thanks Answer: This was a recent purchase for me. I agree with those in the previous thread that PN bears a striking resemblance to CdG Sequoia, which is another fave. PN's woody cedar accord is almost an exact match to Sequoia's.The main difference bewteen the two is PN's dark, fruity essence; hence the name Pomegranate Noir. Love the slighty fruity, woody drydown and it works very well when layered under 154. Sillage and longevity are about average for me. PN lasts about 8 hours and doesn't seem to radiate much more than arm's length. It works very well on me. Call me Dr. Strange. BTW When layered over Terre d'Hermes, PN seems to amplify the orange/citrus in TdH and creates an oddly wearable fruit/wood combo. I prefer both PN and TdH alone but it's an interesting experiment nonetheless. Answer: For what it is worth here is the description and notes from OZMOZ: Perfume description Pomegranate Noir opens with red fruits and warm, rich spices. Tart pomegranate and lush plum lead into the floral heart notes, which are accented by earthy woods, opopanax and frankincense. The drydown adds musk and a whisper of patchouli, creating a mysterious, dusky trail. Top note : pomegranate, Pink Pepper, Raspberry Middle note : Plum, opopanax, frankincense Base note : patchouli, musk, Spicy Woods Answer: Pomegranate Noir is one of my recent purchases and has quickly become one of my favorite scents. Very uplifting frag that I've gotten a lot of compliments on. Actually, a few of my co workers have started using it to judge my other fragrances by. Today I wore a spritz on top of Voleur de Roses but normally I've worn this one alone. Answer: I like this one quite a bit once it has settled on my skin. I'm keen to try it out this summer because I think it actually might work just fine. I have the body cream as well, but I am disappointed with the texture. The stuff just does NOT absorb into the skin very easily. Answer: I have Pomegranate Noir along with lots of other Jo Malones. I love PN on its own or combined with 154 for a mascauline effect, or with Red Roses when I want a more luscious and romantic scent. I don't know any other scent like PN, which is partly why I like it so much. On it's own it is a strange marriage of dusky pepper and shining bright seed, just like the look of the fruit, though I don't think it smells like it much. It really sings, then it dries down to be sophisticated and mysterious, which I love in any fragrance. The sillage is good if you are liberal with it to begin with, and I find it lasts longer than some other JM colognes. I agree with BlueDevilSF about the JM body creams, of which I have the Lime-Basil-Mandarin. It does not absorb very well. It smells fabulous for a while, but it does feel a bit sticky. Layering a cologne on top helps it dry a little. Answer: Despite being labelled as cologne strength is this one more of an EDT strangth? Answer: I think this one is definitely EDT strength if not better. I sprayed it twice on my right arm last night at 7 PM. This morning it still was 'all there' when I got in the shower.
